Do they have any padding on the palm? I really like the look of these as a lightweight summer glove, but I hate padded palms! As a comparison, I usually ride in either Troy Lee XC or Fox Inclines, both of which are refreshingly palm padding free! Have just got another pair of the XCs, but am torn between the Fox and the 661 for the other pair.

Thanks!

Quite a few friends had them and they all complained that the gloves fell apart.

Troy lee XC, inclines, or various Thor gloves are hard to beat imo.

No padding, mine lasted the trans germany last year and are still OK. They are thin but no stitching has come loose.

No padding - which is fine, and they are lovely and cool for the summer.

HOWEVER - they offer sod all protection top or underside so really all you are wearing is something for stopping the horrible sweaty hands on bars feel, and also a useful snot/face wipe.
I crashed on a hard path (thanks to a stupid dog and an even stupider owner) wearing mine and they were wrecked from that one fall - only just helping me avoid grazing my palms to buggery.

The ones I have (not the latest, but have they changed?) have an extra layer of "leather" for the heel of the thumb and the bottom of the fingers.
I to have a dislike of padded gloves, and like these 661 gloves.
I tend to rotate a few pair of gloves so they tend to last a bit longer for me

colnago, that's my take on it as well, glove rotation!

el_creedo, that's really what I'm after, more about the control and feel on the bars, with a little protection if I stack.

Might need to try and find a pair to try on now, as seems to be mixed feedback!

Every pair of 661 gloves i have had have fallen apart in no time at all in cluding one pair in about 2hrs of riding.

Da Kine Gloves on the other hand survived 2 weeks of me stacking it in Canada. Much better quality.

I've been using the Raji for a few years now I love them and always go back to them. They do fall apart a bit, but this is usually just a bit of loose stitching the actual glove will stay together just looks a bit scruffy. no padding on the palms, light and breathable and great connected feeling.

I use some black rajis 1 or 2 yrs old? Not got thousands of miles on them yet but running OK, no padding, snot/sweat wipe is a bit short (why not go to the end of the thumb?) but a good summer glove. V.cool. Check sizes I think mine are XXL, think I normally wear L or XL

I really like mine. I bought them in 2007 and they've been to the alps with me twice. Still in perfect condition apart from the 661 logo peeling away. I only wear them in summer months but I still think that I've had good use out of them.

I don't like padded gloves either. Strangely I find they cause all the issues they are suppose to stop! I have some Specialized Enduro. Mine are going well so far. No padding and quite cool in summer.

classic thread full of Misinformation! - (refer to latest issue of the mag)

for all those who say their Raji gloves fall apart in no time, then you are obviously doing something wrong with them or being plain stupid!

Am a bit biased against Spesh gloves. No reason at all, apart from the fact that I ride a Spesh and don't want to look like a brandwhore! 😉

I'd have to be pretty stupid not to be able to tell when a pair of gloves fell apart on me and im pretty sure im wearing them on my hands as intended.

From experience the 661 gloves ive owned have last a fraction of the time the Fox and more recently DaKine gloves have.

I've had these gloves right from pre production models to todays issues.
They fall apart quicker than any other glove I've had.
The fingers are better on newer models than they were but the cuff comes away first usually and it leaves nothing for you to stitch it back to and try to repair it.

Having said that.....they are great gloves!
I use them for road mainly as I can't ride with mitts.Have also used them for cross racing.I suppose I've had more actual mileage out of them than my downhill gloves although "time on hands" may vary vastly!

my pair of 661 didn't last long, missus has a pair that have lasted forever. Personally I gave up trying to find a 'better' glove and bought 3 pairs of red Troy Lee XC last time I needed some, that's me sorted for about 5 years given the time they take to wear out.

From experience, the 661 gloves I've owned have lasted a fraction of the time the Fox, and more recently Dakine, gloves have.

That sums up my own experience too. I avoid all 661 gloves like the plague now.

I've been using Race Face Deus Gloves for the last year or so - I suffer really badly with sweaty hands so wanted something light and airy, and these have done the business in Spain as well as the UK. They're standing up well to my routine 'unscheduled dismounts' too. Mine are the 08 model and they don't feel padded despite what the blub on CRC says.

661s = cack IME, had a couple of pairs both fell apart in double quick time. Very poor quality, tore along stitching

Better experiences with Thor, Fox, RF, Cannondale (old skool) and Troy Lee.

Seems to be swinging away from the 661s....! Those Deus look pretty much perfect, will be hunting down a pair to try on.
