I don't wear any pads at all just now, but when I do crash it always seems to be my hip that gets it, so these seem like a solution, but concerned at how comfy or hot they might be?

I have an older version of these that i occassionally wear for dh, spot on for that use but wouldn't wear them for xc/trail use as they don't have a chamois.
I wear them for downhill, and think they work, the foam is just high density foam, it's not solid so they're no more noticable than a pair of short liners under baggies.
Only downside is no chammy which might have been an issue if I'd actualy pedaled anywhere in them, but then plenty of people ride without a chammy anyway.
