Hello, I'm looking for opinions on the 650b Kona Explosif from any owners out there please. I'm thinking of getting the 2015 model which essentially looks to be the same as the 2014 one but with a different paintjob. Always been a Kona fanboy plus I'm loving the new orange paintjob. Is there any reason why I should get the 2014 model over the 2015? The 2015 comes with a drilling to take a stealth dropper, not sure the 2014 does. Thanks in advance.

I got one last year and love it, just a brilliant bike.
really like the fit and spec.
only reason to get 2014 is price as they will be cheaper now, as for drilling for reverb, could do that yourself

Love mine. I was tempted to sell it and then when I ride it I fall back in love. I'll keep this one forever.

I have a 2014 Ti version. 17" frame and sizing seems a little strange, so check that out. Great bike though and do it all sort of thing

Very nice bike John. Love Ti myself but I've been wanting a bright orange bike for as long as I can remember and spotted the 2015 version last night.

Got a question about the 2013 model you guys might be able to help me with though. Bikeman.com are selling both the 2013 & 2014 in frame only variants and the 2013 is more expensive. In my eyes it's a cooler looking paintjob but the tubing is Kona branded as opposed to Reynolds 520. I know that it's not what it's made from that matters but who and how it is made that counts so is the difference in price more likely down to 2013 being the more popular paintjob. The 2014 looks quite understated so if you guys wanted to post a couple of pictures of yours I wouldn't be adverse to this 😉

It won't make a blind bit of difference - isn't 520 just basically generic 4130 anyway. Manufacturers just pay a licence fee to Reynolds to allow them to put the 520 sticker on, as they think it gives the frame a bit more kudos.
