Hi All
I have a spare 456 Carbon frame hanging in my garage. I fancy building a hub geared 650b winter bike. I know I can get sliding dropouts so chain tension won't be an issue but will a 650b wheel fit with a reasonable amount of mud clearance.
I appreciate it may have been discussed before so pointing me at another thread is cool
Any pictures and advice gratefully received
Thanks
Ken
I think it would be fine. Just measured min for you. It has an on one smorgasbord tyre on 2.2.
45mm clearance from tyre to seat stay arch and 30mm to bottom bracket chain stay area. Hope that helps.
Bro in law runs 650b SS carbon wheels with 2.35 minions in his med 456c
Has about 1cm clearance
One of my riding buddies has a 456c running 650b wheels. Clearance at the back is fine. Fork clearance is tight though. He was running it with Rebas but took them off and replaced with some Manitous he had spare.
Thanks all
Just need to decide on 11 or 8 speed
Cheers
Ken
