Have recently purchased some new 2010 140mm 44 TI RC3's
I'm not getting any where near full travel, running at 0psi air assist, min damping,
I'm just over 11 stone, my riding isn't extreme, but I expected to get a bit more travel than the 100mm or so I have achieved so far

Other than eating more pie's what do I do?
Could they have too much oil in?

I was close to buying a set of these but am a similar weight to yourself and didn't fancy having to shell out for a lighter titanium spring so decided against. It might be worth getting on to Windwave to see if they can supply lighter springs. I had a look before and couldn't see them on their website but if you search on the internet they do seem to exist.

Sorry, not much help to you there. Good luck with sorting things out.

According to the set up charts I should need to add air!
Can't believe I would need a softer spring

What kind of rider are you? You rag the bike a fair bit?
I'm probably 12 stone with kit (11.75 unladen?) and only just about get full travel when I'm giving the bike a good going over. On a normal boring xc ride i'll get half travel maybe?
I'm probably the ideal weight for the spring I reckon, feels great over the little stuff and only bottoms out when I hit a nice jump or drop.

If its any help i'm about 13 stone and getting full travel easily - had to add some air in fact, so i'd guess the spring should be about right.

Windwave is the best bet. I know removing oil was the trick with the old Z1's etc, but not sure how these work.

Got a useful response from Windwave Tech Advice.

I think the main issue here is your set up of the compression adjuster, by setting it to minimum it will give you maximum high speed damping and make the fork very progressive (it is progressive by nature anyway). The full explanation to the compression settings can be found here: Adjusting the hi lo compression adjuster on the 44 RC3 TI

So first thing to try is to get a more neutral compression setting.

Second is to remove 10cc of oil, do this using a syringe that way you can correctly monitor the amount of oil you are removing. This will make the stroke more linear.

Lastly if none of these simple solutions work you may have to swap out to the soft spring, part number y5141946

I think some people have some success in setting RC3 dampers up for lighter riders by compressing the forks whilst pressing the valve on the air assist. Release the valve, allow forks to extend creates a negative pressure (not sure if this is correct term, physics fans) which allows the forks to be more compliant.
