i wanna run 44-32 chainrings on my double but dont wanna pay the xtr price for them, any ideas on the rings i need or chainset i can get?

Take a look at spa cycles. Impact double is good, they also do various rings.

Buy a triple and unbolt the granny ring?
You don't say what chainset you have, however assuming its a standard double with 104/64 BCD then you're going to struggle getting rings that fit.
