Are you changeing yours with every casette or bringing them over to a new casette? As it's the bottom sprockets that skip and shift badly when a casette is dead don't see why I shouldn't be able to move mine over? In theory a 42t sprocket should last almost 4 times an 11t due to having more chain/tooth interface. Anyone tried carrying one over yet?

You should be fine for at least 3 cassettes worth of changes I'd have thought.
But it all depends on how long you've spent grinding away in that gear.
IMO

I try to use it as little as possible as it's more expensive than the casette, chain and chainring put together! I should be ok then, cheers

By the time it's worn out we'll all be buying dedicated shimano 11spd cassettes.
