Are the 4 peg frwewheel remover tools meant to be compatible with 8 peg freewheels?

The Cyclo BMX 4 peg freewheel tool I ordered barely slots into the 4-Jeri BMX/SS freewheel I ordered.

Not gone out to shed  to try persuading it with a mallet yet, should I?

It only slots in about a mm which I suspect as soon as I apply any sort of torque to, it'll drop straight out.

Can it be made to fit by means of an angle grinder, or a file if you are going for artisan points?
Hopefully the axle nut will hold it on so nothing slips.

I cheerfully modify tools if they don’t do what I want, draw all over the pegs with marker pen, fit and remove the tool, then you can see where they need to be narrower, thinner or whatever.

It slotted into the existing freewheel on my kids bike perfectly, so more the new (cheap) freewheel I guess, which looks coated with something like cheap chrome. Anyway got the new one fitted, didn't take much.
