Trying 700s on the "gravel" bike again before deciding what to go for on a new one.

Gentle bimble in the Cairngorms with mates in the sun. Lungs didn't work too well in the 7am chill at the bothy but the warm air brought them to life.
Trip to Thornielee today with a few friends. bit steeper than I would probably have wanted for my first off road ride in 8 months. Stunning day and stunning trails even if I did fall off a couple of times.

Twas decreed that we weren't going on any proper adventures this year due to impending exams, so we chilled in the Lakes.
Did 3 lovely Scrambles in Langdale, 2 up
https://flic.kr/p/2orNFdi
then 1 down.
https://flic.kr/p/2orNFhb
Then Whinlatter for the " bad weather day"
https://flic.kr/p/2orKL8L
Followed by a quick descent of Sleet How.
Then bouldering at Chapel Stile
https://flic.kr/p/2orQFJU
Then a very chilled Keld/Loughrigg loop with me and the wean zooming off to try all the slabs we could find

Woulda preferred skiing or 'bleau, but sometimes you just gotta chill. 🙂
Glorious day! Hoping for another ride out Sunday.

Glorious Good Friday, yet more south pennine road miles while I wait for a wheelbuild for my MTB. Blackstone Edge, Craggies for a brew and Stocks Lane, felt like summer!
Been a while since I've cycled Watchwood trails. LOTS of forestry has cleared an area big enough for a shopping centre!
Most jump lines (jumps at bottom of three main lines, and over the quarry end) have been bulldozed, but there are still some lovely tight bermy lines in amongst the trees.

Naff picture but a lovely ride.

40km of quiet back lanes and tracks. Short sleeves and no gloves for the first time in what feels like forever, hopefully get out again tomorrow and make the most of the weather.
Sunny day in the Yat. Some trails lovely and dry, a few off camber slippery madness. Good fun all round, rode a new trail (to me) with lots of slabs. Obviously took pics of the easy one 😉 Beer in the sunshine to finish.
Off to ride W2 at Afan tomorrow. Must be three years since we were last there.
The trails around us would have been absolutely chockablock with walkers yesterday, so I went on a bridleway/road potter down the valley on the hardtail. And very nice it was too
FInishing with this bloody lovely Italian cider Mrs Binners discovered in Morrisons
The road bike is off the turbo trainer and has been reunited with its back wheel and Ive my first road ride of the year planned for tomorrow morning
Yair on Thursday

Golfie yesterday. No pics but Sofaking has posted one from the ride already.
GT today in the sunshine to work off a hangover.
https://flic.kr/p/2orVguC
We took the eldest out, first ride in a while for her whilst she had been trying to strengthen her knee at the gym.
Went up onto Blacca Woods and Houndskirk Moor. Put a few laps in on Lady Cannings.
Sun was out and trails were fairly dry.
Not many out and about
A fun ride round GT today in the sunshine with Singlespeedstu and Mrs ssstu

@singlespedstu 😂. I didn't put any details of your lie down
@singlespedstu cycling is hard. A lie down every so often is often needed.
Epic weather in the cairngorms:

Cairngorms you say? If anyone meets a bloke with a smashed up face it might be my mate Kim. His partner messaged me to let me know he'd had a big OTB at speed. Give him a cheery wave from me please!
After a week away and off the bike went out today. Decided to skirt the eastern edges of the Peak District in an attempt to miss the throngs of people there. Worked pretty well.
Did manage to ride down a trail that was mostly river and tore a hole in my shorts! But was lovely to be out in the sun.

Epic weather in the cairngorms:
Meh. It's always like that.
I almost ran up/down that route this morning but headed for Glen Eanaich instead.

Going to drag the boy up there tomorrow, maybe do another laraig ghru lap in the afternoon. Was a super fun descent although the traverse across from the lodge wasn’t so much fun.
It's slightly better in summer when the ground has dried out. TBH I tend to go up the descent route, usually avoiding the final bit.
Solo sunset gravel ride Thursday ...
Then out for a quick local explore today, very familiar trails plus a couple of new ones...
Staying in Exmouth at the moment. Lovely loop including lots of Woodbury Common which was new to and great. It’s shown here. Fine on the gravel bike with these tyres. If you were just riding there an MTB would be better
Staunton yesterday on the Geometron, and just been out local on the Hardtail.

Just a short local spin today, good to get out in the sunshine although it did seriously show up my complete lack of actual bike fitness!

Hoping to get out Monday morning too.
Ben Ledi Yesterday. Weather was better than I expected, ride was a masochistic slog and piss poor descent. Win some lose some

@poah Easter prayers are always a good thing. Was that the direction of Mecca (other bingo establishments are available)?
Solo local spin in the glorious weather, felt amazing to be out with the sun on my back.

Woke up feeling worse if anything from the recent virus with a new sore throat and STILL blocked ears, decided to go out for an hour for a recovery ride instead of the scheduled 3hr Turbo session.
Ended up enjoying the road bike, sun and dry roads so came back 3hrs later, its lovely out in Essex today:

First weekend ride since late November. NBD arranged for late May with Lifecycle.

It appears that the pictured bike requires new rings, cassette, chain and jockey wheels.
@davros. What is the frame bag you have on your Occam? Is it a home made one? I assume you can fit the essentials in it.
Maiden voyage on the new to me frame today on a spin in the Cotswolds.
It was a fun ride.

@kendonagasaki it's the smallest size evoc bag, they may still be going cheap at merlin. I think it was £17 or thereabouts. It's quite versatile as there are lots of options for the strap placement. If you had a tube in there wouldn't be room for much else. Probably just a small tool. I just keep a tool and snacks in it.
@jeffl is that wet trail on the VB Linacre loop?
I think I recognise it from a reccy expedition a few weeks ago when I was supposed to be guiding a group round it.

Lovely in The Chilterns today on the Cascade.
Up and down the Waltonberg in a kind of Paris Roubaix homage
https://flic.kr/p/2osc41c
Cheers @davros. I'll have a look. Birthday coming up so maybe a subtle hint of two. 😁
Day at Farmer John's bike park today. First time for my lad, initially intimidated he quickly turned that around to clearing the smaller step up. Beautiful weather and top day, more like these needed. Something special about a session day shared with the best half and the kid.
The only pic I took on my Saturday ride and didn't even take a good one at that.
Great day for it though and Matlock locals will know this pub. Can't beat it on a sunny day

Road ride in glorious weather on Saturday with the wife but too busy trying to keep up with her ebike to think about taking photos.
Got out again yesterday evening but it had turned a bit dull and breezy

In keeping with the weekend holidays religious theme we went hunting for 'cross slabs' on the old Glasgow to Whithorn pilgrim route. Hard to locate these 8th century remnants as they are being slowly reclaimed by the Galloway hills.

Annoyingly planned to go out this morning as a gap in the weather looked promising. Overslept thanks to noisy neighbours keeping me up last night so opted for a Zwift ride as the rain was coming down. Stopped raining 20 ins into my session and hasn't started again since, blowing hard though! So much for all the weather apps saying heavy rain from 12 until 7pm.
Frame just back from being repaired & resprayed, quick shakedown last night then a 2 hour local loop over lunchtime today. Showery, then full-on Bank Holiday rain!
A weekend in Cornwall doing some coastal path walks.
But got back today and squeezed in a BH ride 😁

Later start than planned due to a surprise visit from friends heading back from Mallaig..
So shorter loop out the door around Loch Earn, a combination of gravel, grass and mud along an old railway line and a rollercoaster road ride back (into a headwind..).
Loving this bike 🙂
After the sun of the weekend today's ride was brought to you by sodden bridleways, hedge gap hurricanes and squally showers
https://flic.kr/p/2osstpf
Double round of the exe estuary. Maybe I should have checked the boat times more carefully. But the second round was just as good and I needed a longer ride
Glorious day in the Moor, still moist in places, nice and quiet around the corner, away from the weekend tourists.

The kids’ mates were all away so it was just me and them.
Sunday morning at Noosa was surprisingly dead. Empty trails for us!
Bloodwood hub has thoughtfully installed facilities for the ‘cheats’
Weekend up in Killin.
Saturday at Comrie Croft. What a cracking little place this is...

Sunday Rob Roy way to the south of Loch Tay.

I love it up there.
Been floored with shitty lurgy, wee break away. Had a play on some fun stuff up the Barrhill then interesting costal path

Mrs_oab got back on her bike for the first time in 6 weeks today. 🤗
A gentle wander along the old railway from Dunblane to Doune.
