Evening,

Can anyone recommend a decent frame protection 3M tape on Ebay? Or another brand without paying through the nose.

Thanks

Have a look at Gorilla repair tape, that's what I've used on mine, it's thick stuff and relatively cheap. I got a roll off Amazon for about £5

Be warned though Gorilla tape will take paint off if the paint isn't too hot, good stuff, but sticky as hell.😃

Genuine 3M is inherently a bit expensive but the quality is streets ahead of the genetic "heli tape" I've used in the past. It's PROPER thick and nice to mould with heat too.

I bought some from:

The gorilla tape is as poopscoop says sticky... The edging is pinked/serrated (very fine pinking) so it attracts dirt at least the roll I have, but it does the job.

Still think the 3m heli tape is better though.

I've got an impending bike purchase in the next week so have been looking at this too, in the end I think I'll got for a bike shield pack, the oversize full bike pack can be had for £32 from merlin cycles, or the standard size one for £23.

I'll also need some of that 3m (I think) rubber tape for chainstay protection.

Thanks for the advice guys.  Going to have a look at 3M tape.  The problem is, knowing what is Genuine and what isn't.  Will have a look at "Poopscoop"s suggetion

I got the 3M yesterday. The thickness alone would indicate it's the real deal mate. 👍

I got some from Viking Tapes . About thirty quid for two or three metres, if I remember correctly.

Not a clue mate, the 3M I've bought for bikes has always been thicker and more pliable than the non branded stuff though.

Heli tape is typically around 150 or 300 micron. 3M comes in both thickness. I prefer the 150 micron for working around compound curves as it is more pliable. Though the 300 is good for better protection on downtubes. Invisiframe is 150 micron.
