I'm ordering a few of these truing tools to be 3D printed. They can be used like this with a gauge like this to try and get really perfect with the trueness of my disk rotors.

For the cost of the minimum order (£18) I can get 4 of them printed, would anyone like to split the cost and have one for themselves?

Actually, by the time I add a centring guide I can get 2 sets for the £18. Still, let me know if you want the other one.

Interested in that centering thingy. I usually use playing cards, but a small block with an exact sized slot for the rotor makes more sense.

Not that im interested in ordering such. I could pretty much make something identical with some super dense African blackwood ive got.

I had the same thought about making that block myself but I’m not sure I trust myself to get the disk slot perfectly centred which would defeat the point somewhat.

Anyway, I have 2 full sets ordered, one with a sram block and one with a shimano block so I’ll report back once I’ve had a chance to play with them.

Coincidentally I spotted those bits on thingiverse this morning. I never knew disk truing was even a thing but I might print them and see what happens.

I’d be curious to hear how you get on. In theory the truer the disk the less lever free throw you end up with so it can be a good thing if you’re fussy about that.

I'm convinced at some point in the future visiting aliens will find the human race extinct, buried, under piles of 3D printed tat!

You can generally fake up much the same thing using caliper adaptors- no need for a dial gauge, you just need some sort of runout indicator, can be a cable tie or a bolt or whatever. (bolt works really well since it's so adjustable)

Does depend on your selection of spare mounts and your bike's fitment though.

If you're 3D printing an adapter for a dial gauge, why not just print a dial gauge or indicator arm directly?

Or better yet this is far neater/simpler:
