Ive always used Endura 3/4 thermolite bibshorts to see me through the winters. The first pair lasted years before death. The 2nd pair lasted 1 winter before they split at the arse. The material seemed a tad thinner. Anyway, I thought Id give them another try and so bought a 3rd pair.

The fit seemed a bit looser on the last pair and I wasnt as keen on the fit of the 600 series pad, but I didnt get chance to take them far before they got shreded in a recent off.

So, should I buy another pair of Endura's (perhaps trying a size smaller) or can anyone recommend any others?

Has the quality of Endura gone down the pan a bit, or am I imagining it?

I'm not impressed by Endura kit- it doesn't seem to hold up too well.

I've got some Santini bibs that I wear more than all my others because they feel nicer, but they're also lasting better too. They were about £65 and while it's theoretically roadie kit they work just fine. They feel lovely to wear too.

I love my Rapha cross ones, excellent fit and feel, strong, good padding, and warm. Its about the only bit of non club kit I still wear.

On sale as well as the moment.

Thanks for your comments guys.

Are the Santini's & Rapha's fairly warm?

S-Chef, where are the Raphas on sale?

Rapha stuff is superb but pricey.
I really like both Endura and Rapha - most of my cycling wardrobe is from those two brands!

They are quite warm- I commuted in them every other day until the really bad weather just before Christmas. Warmer than my Altura Reflex tights, and much nicer despite costing less.

i had the older enduras, with the red pad. they were fantastic and lasted me for years. just like OP, i got another set of enduras recently and was gutted to find they've changed the design so now they're all baggy in the wrong places and don't fit at all, and are also very uncomfortable.

🙁 🙁 🙁

@ theflatboy - dead right mate. My originals were with a red pad. They were top quality. Why oh why did they change 🙁

The cross bibs are warm, yes, however it seems their normal ones are warmer still.

"Providing the same unrivalled fit as Rapha’s regular ¾ Bib Shorts, the cross version use a lighter, thinner fabric more suited to cross racing"

+1 for the santini 3/4 bibs, way more comfortable than the latest endura bibs ( club issue kit), seen the same santini in short versions which going to get for warmer rides, well worth the money.

Those Rapha's do look fantastic - but £130 *gulp*

How do they size up. Being Italian, Im asuming on the small side.

Rapha is not Italian, it's British. But yes, definitely on the slim/snug side.

I thought Endura had got their act together again now. They went through a bad patch a few years ago with weird sizing but all their recent stuff that I've got has been fantastic. The FS260 kit is brilliant, I've got the bib shorts and a L/S mid-weight top and both are super comfy, hard wearing and a perfect fit.

yes, my mistake. Was reading about the Santini's.

I have a pair of FS260 3/4s too, and they are a great fit - though more suited to chilly spring/autumn weather rather than deep winter.

Hmm, Im begining to talk myself into spunking £130 on the Rapha's 😯

My thermostat tights have lastest a winter, my old red padded ones lasted for years. but i noticed that the current ones are chinese. Not from Scotia.
Go to try Lusso next, Brit company, don't know if they are Uk made, but the price is better. EDIT "Lusso 'Hand made in the UK' logo".

Shame about Endura, i've been a fan for years. but i can't afford £65 for stuff that does work/last

I use the santini 3/4 bibs and have been very impressed, warm and a very good fit (for me anyway!).

Apologies for the slight hijack but does anyone know of any 3/4s that don't have the thermal fabric inside, I fancy getting some for spring/autumn?

I've also abandoned Endura.

I have (until the depths of winter) been using Giordana silverline 3/4length bibs daily, for my commute, for the past year. They're ace. Great fit, very durable. Recommended. Ribble had them cheap.

Burchy - I have seen wiggle own-brand dhb 3/4length bib tights in std lycra (not roubaix material). I've never been happy with dhb kit though, that I've had fitted like a carboard box and fell apart pronto.

Castelli Sorpasso - Expensive but very very comfy - great pad - currently not used for MTB but will in the summer 🙂

dhb from Wiggle are excellent, good value, good fit, well made. I have some with a light fleecy lining and they are perfect for chilly rides.

yep exactly, at the moment it's a fair amount for me too so hence the massive disappointment at the waste of money!

My endura 3/4 replaced a pair I'd used fr years and loved. I bought the thermalite Ones and they do seem an odd cut. The main area of odd is the shape of the pad at the front and back. On th bike, after a couple of rides, they finally do feel fine but any walking and they look and feel awful. Like a nappy gone wrong. I won't order a future model unless I try them first.

love my Endura FS260. Also got some Polaris non bibs which are ok, don't think the chamois will last too long though.

really want some skins 3/4. The shorts are excellent. Just sooo pricey 🙁

+1 for Santini. Very comfortable but check the sizing. I'm 6'1" and an XL.

Got bibshorts & 3/4's, and the quality is excellent.

Another vote for the Rapha cross 3/4's here. I have both these and the normal 3/4's, and to be honest rate the cross ones higher. I also have Endura Thermolite and FS2600 Pro 3/4's. The Thermo's feel shapeless in comparison. I love the FS2600 Pro's but they are not really warm enough for winter.

The Cross 3/4's are £90 in the Rapha sale at the minute too.

love my Endura FS260

I have a few pairs of 3/4 from cheap to expensive.

when i first bought mt FS260 they were horrible, rough stitching, overlapping seams etc etc.. only wore them a few times and though they were horrible.

Anyway sent them back to Endura with drawing and list of questions and complaints..

turns out that the ones I had where not made correctly, wrong thread and wrong stitching patterns used..

They send me a new pair and these are now fab and especially good if you are tall/have long legs are they are more 3/4 than other brands

The fit seemed a bit looser on the last pair
Hmm my latest Lusso shorts (been using lusso for years) were certainly roomier than before, are clothing firms looking at the national obesity trend and upsizing?

Sorry to drag this old post up, but I decided to plump for the Rapha 3/4 bibs whilst theyre in the sale (and I spotted a 15% discount code on another post).

WOW! The quality & fit is simply brilliant. Whilst I was in a money spunking mood, I also also bought a long sleeved shirt which is also reduced and is also the dogs.

If anyone's interested the sale ends soon & to grab an extra 15% off, pop: NCTDU2012 in at the end.

Bostin!

i've been resisting the sale so far but with an extra 15% off my resistance has crumbled.

really like the look of the cross shorts but a bit worried about the colour panel at the back and how see through it would in the wet 😀

Just bought those Rapha cross too - hope they are as good as people say. I've no experience with Rapha as of yet.

I bought the Endura 3/4 tights, they fit like a glove, if my ar*e was near my knees. Ordered a pair of the Rapha Cross bib tight things in the sale with my Christmas money, awaiting their arrival. Although so expensive it will be a worry to get them muddy..............

got the cross 3/4 bibs (and a few other things) today

very nice fit and feel. expensive but IMO you will struggle to get something of comparable quality for cheaper (with the sale + discount code they come out under £80.)
