Sheldon's table says to narrow a tyre..

Rim is a pacentti cl 25, matched to a Gravel King sk.

Gravel king sk 32s measure ~35mm, I think you will live... for now. 😉

I've run 35c Maxxis Raze on Open Pros (15mm internal) - you'll be fine.

I wouldn't have any issues running that set up.

1500km into 25c tyres on 19mm internal rims. No death has occurred yet.

Try it - just fitted some 40mm G-Ones on Velocity A23s which are 19mm internal - 50 miles todays and they were great. Some tyre and rim combos don't work however due to sloppy bead/rim interface. Narrower rim means tyres will be less stable at lower pressures

Same rims here. Run 25 mm Michelins nicely. Also 35 mm CX tubeless. Also Challenge Strada Bianca's in 30mm and currently 30mm S Ones tubeless. All great.
Much as I revere Sheldon I think the site is out of date in this respect.

[quote=tpbiker ]Sheldon's table says to narrow a tyre..

Sheldon's table says "Note: This chart may err a bit on the side of caution. Many cyclists exceed the recommended widths with no problem." underneath, and you're only talking about 1mm too wide a rim (or 3mm too narrow a tyre) - though I note that it considers 28mm on 19mm acceptable...

The table is an industry standard (I think it's ETRTO official spec) which you'll find repeated on various other sites, nothing particularly to do with Sheldon, though the disclaimer is all his.

Go on, live a bit dangerously!

Been running the very same tyre, tubeless on DT Swiss R24 Splines on and off road for several months.

They're 18mm internal and I've survived... albeit slowly as Scotroutes will testify.

Cheers all..

My new crosser arrived today..

I picked up the rear wheel.. It weighs as much as the moon. Definitely a good chunk of the total 10.6kg weight.

Building a set of cheap wheels and adding the gravel kings.. will save almost a kilo!

Good god. It's not that long ago I was running 2.2in tyres on Mavic 717s which are narrower than that!

Just checked the bike....

I still am!

I thought the tyres were too skinny, not too wide!

I would agree that Sheldon's guidance is out of date. Happily used 23c on a 17.5 internal width rim.

I use quite happily 23c tyres on Hplusson Archetype with a 17.5mm internal width.
Also 38c tyres on 25mm internal width with no issues.
You'll be reet.
