Thinking about getting wider rims, probably 30mm Id or just above but not sure if there’s space in my 2016 pike fork.

Anyone done this?

Currently using a 2.5 wt minion or shorty on a 25mm id rim which does fit and guessing the same tyre will be wider but not as tall on a wider rim

cheers

james

Hi,

I have a 2016 Pike and use 30mm ID rims with a 2.6" Minion DHF, clearance is OK unless its thick sticky mud.

I changed from a Mudhugger to a thin plastic mudguard which clears better.

I would concur, I have 29mm internal rims on a non-boost Pike, running 2.35 Schwalbes that come out about the same width as the 2.5 Maxxis, they fit fine. Sometimes bits of gravel get picked up and rub the mudguard, that's as bad as it gets.

Running 30mm with a 2.6 NN on non boost Yaris and plenty of clearance. Thinking about 2.8 at the front and stick the 2.6 at the back actually

29er 30mm rims with 2.5 (old not WT AFAIK) Minion DHF in a non boost 29er pike.

No issues.

Non boost 2016 Pike. 30mm internal Lightbicycle rim. maxxis 2.5wt DHF.

It works, I've even cut a chunk out of a mudhugger to fit around the arch and that works. I'd not call it massive clearance in any configuration though.

Same configuration as Onzadog but non-WT with similar experience. Normal use was fine but MudHugger (unmodified) was too close to be usable. Swapped to the Boost version of the fork which has greater clearance.
