Does anyone have practical experience, or know what works IRL, when it comes to mixing cranksets and bottom brackets (MTB, regular 73 mm threaded) from different manufacturers using 30 mm spindle like Race Face, Hope, Rotor, e*thirteen?
I found this third party BB that seem to indicate that "it depends" if it works 🙂 http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id479.html
The reason I'm asking is that I'm getting a set of used RF Turbine cranks, but the Race Face BB seems to get really bad reviews in terms of durability considering they're not exactly cheap.

Not sure if this helps any but I fitted a RF Turbine Cinch to my GF's bike with a Hope PF46 and all was good once I fitted a 1mm spacer on the 30mm axle to take up a little too much play for the preload adjuster to cope with.
That's definitely helpful. Thanks for sharing.

RaceFace BBs are rubbish - use something like a Wheels Manufacturing BSA30 BB which has bigger ball-bearings and better sealing. You may have to play around with spacers to get the right end-load adjustment.
Never heard of but looks great. And in the same price range as RF (way below Hope). Looks perfect. Thanks.

As above, turbine, hope 30mmx73 and a spacer on the axle.
I run a Hope 30mm bottom bracket with a set of race face Turbines
You may want to get some of the 1mm spacers Hope sell. ( BBSP105 ). These allow you to fine tune the width so the side to side adjuster can work well.
After a wet or gritty ride take the cranks off and regrease under the alloy end caps and you should have a very long service life from your hope bottom bracket
Went with Rotor BSA30 in the end. Cost about the same as RF but get much better reviews, have swappable bearings and supposedly work without faff with the RF cinch cranks. (and they were available at a shop where I had a voucher)
Thanks for all input
