Q1 - warm packable jacket for post ride pub stop. To go in waist pack
Q2 - what grips to replace burgtec bartenders
Q3 - how do I change stw display back to white not black
2- quite like the new peaty monarch grips - thick.
1. Go inside, it’s much warmer!
2. I like the ODI Reflex and thick/soft Deathgrips
3. That’s annoying, I don’t like this trend for blacked out sites…
Love Minnaar Bartender Pros, but I'm now hooked on Deity Knuckleduster. They're like better Bartenders.
Deathgrips wear too quickly and I just think there are better options out there. They’re decent but grips are relatively inexpensive and nice to try other options. Odi half Nelson’s I have always liked, funn have some good options and I’m about to try some Ergons.
Deity are in the mix. I'm not a fan of death grips. Ergon on the flat bar gravel
For packability and warmth then a light down jacket is great. I have an older version of this one from Decathlon that is very light and carried as a just in case layer probably more than worn. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/me n's-hiking-hooded-down-jacket-5degc-mh100-brown/_/R-p-167571?mc=8559957&c=copper%20brown Other colours are less reduced in price.
If you don't think you can keep it dry or cleanish then a cheap insulated jacket will be fine. Like this £15 one: https://www.millets.co.uk/16543977/peter-storm-men-s-blisco-ii-hooded-jacket-16543977
Fitting any jacket in a hip pack that is more than a light windproof may be very dependent on hip pack size.
I've got some foam silicone grips. Had them in the bike for the last four years at least.
They don't wear like rubber grips. Don't have that sticky, slimy residue that rubber grips do. They're still like new.
Only drawbacks are that once they're fitted you're not getting them off easily and I've forgotten which brand they are.
Have silicon gross on another bike and they're not as comfy.
I find many down/insulated jackets are too long which all adds bulk. For the post ride pub stop you don’t need a full on mega warm jacket, just something that will keep you warm enough. Any suggestions for shorter warm jackets?
I went for a Montane Prism for that purpose but I see it's been discontinued. Equivalent might be something from Alpkit perhaps without a hood though as that just adds bulk you don't necessarily need for what you're asking. Where it does really help is the unintentional mid-ride stop while someone is taking an age to sort out a mechanical, there's a biting wind and your fingers are starting to lose all feeling. Prepare for that not just the chilly pub where you can't get near the fire.
I have the Burgtec Minnaar grips in super soft and really like them, more than the Deathgrips that are now on my hardtail. My wife had th Burgtec Josh Bryceland supersoft grips and finds them super comfy as wll
A have some Deity slims which I like but they are very soft so not sure how long they will last. Down gilet for warmth without bulk.
Have had death grips for a while but I see they’re well worn so I’ll go for a pair of peatys which seems to last better and are lovely to feel gloved or no gloved. Went thick mushroom ones, they’re really nice
Rapha do a short sleeve insulated “jacket” that packs down to nothing.
