i'm thinking ahead to next year and having another crack at the 3 peaks, i've done it twice, originally inspired to do it for my 40th after reading Chips' excellent article, with the last time i rode it being 10 years ago.

just two things i'm wondering, i see entry is online now so do all places go within minutes of the system opening on June 1st?

when i rode it the race was john rawnsleys, is it still as well organised and importantly the same feel and good experience?

Lottery, unless you've marshalled the event or a cx national - getting on for twice the entries to places available. I've only done it in recent years so I can't say how much it might have changed, though the event has been excellent.

If you definitely want to do the race next year then get in touch with the organisers and arrange to marshall this year. The new organisers seem fine, I didn't notice any difference when I did it last year.

If you want to try the lottery then entries are open for two weeks after which the organisers assign some places and it's a lottery for what's left.

Entries open in early June and stay open for about a week.

Then they close, selection happens and the selected riders are invited to complete their entry within a week.

At the end of that, there's always a few dozen places that are left unclaimed for whatever reason do they contact the reserves, invite them to complete their entry.

Etc etc until they have a full field.

You get guaranteed entry for marshalling the previous year which ensures the event never goes short of marshals!

If you're a first timer, start racking up some CX racing, adventure/gravel rides etc. It all counts as experience at point of selection.

This year will be my 10th start.

thanks guys. as i say i've done it twice, completed both times, i'd just like another crack at it especially as i'm 4odd stone lighter and incredibly fitter than i was then.
