Done the Ratrace and the Trans Cambrian. Any other ideas for a 3 day event of similar quality etc?
Really enjoyed the format of both of the above and they make it worth the ferry fare. (3 day event)
Trans Cambrian event? Do you mean the ITT from Knighton to Dovey Junction?
Knighton to Machynlleth we did with MTB Wales.....also did Battle on the Beach.
Are you looking for something organised or a recognised ride that you can do that will (or could) take three days?
To me a race/event is the former and a challenge the latter. Though a three day race might well be a challenge in itself.
Edit: Dovey Junction is just down the road from Mach BTW.
Either, although I did enjoy the fact that all we had to do was turn up.
I'm also up for something other than that, so long as the route/accommodation prospects are ok.
Look on selfsupporteduk.net for ideas for routes. The Trans-Cambrian is probably the easiest of them though. Just because they are classed as ITTs and most attempt them in a lightweight self-supported manner, usually bivvying rather than using B&Bs or hotels.
You could do the YD300 over three days, there's accommodation at regular intervals but you'd need to book things yourself. Slightly shorter is the YD200, similar comments apply.
Other routes that are doable in three days at a "normal" pace would be the Pennine Bridleway and The Sandstone Way in Northumberland. We've done the latter in an afternoon-day-morning trip. The Braunton 150 in the SW would be another.
Thanks W.....a few things for me to work on there.
