Evening, All

I am considering running 2X9and have looked into it extensively on the net. However, all the material I have read deals with using the smallest and middle chain rings and replacing the outer one with a bash guard. I don't want to do that; I would like to remove the smallest ring at the front. Will this work and what do I need to do?

Many thanks,

Dom

you would need to through away the small ring and limit the travel of the mech - you may even have enough adjustment on the limit screw to do this (or possibly just find a longer screw to do the job)

It's just that I use the bike at Swinley and never use the smallest chainring.

Erm, ok - just don't use it would be my solution, but each to their own 😉

It's not exactly going to save a lot of weight!

I'd leave it TBH.

You can replace all 3, get the biggest inner ring that you can and then match that with the biggest middle.
