im going to view a used bike for a friend tomorrow, i rarely buy anything used and hes new to riding so im a little out of touch as to pricing on a used complete bike.
roughly how would you go about it if you were to sell a bike?
say for example it retailed at 2000 and is a 2011 year bike.
would it be say half and then an amount taken off for wear and tear etc?
cheers!
Half then 10% off for every year old so around 800 for a 2k new bike, assuming its in reasonable nick.
Half then 10% of for ever year old
cheers chaps.
It can depend on the bike though. Something still current and niche or premium branded say 60% after one year then 10% every year after that. Something that's common, has been heavily discounted or is in poor nick then 45% & 10 %.
And if like a lot of people do, it's hardly been used, it might be worth a bit extra.
Second time in about a week I find myself agreeing with Peter p and I don't even know him.
For 2011 in really good nic circa 40% poss little more if really really good condition with quality parts.
Poor condition or cheap parts, leave alone.
As others said, it really depends on the bike.
Some that might work with, others will be worth less, some will be worth far more.
totally depends on the bike, it could be a wreck worth nothing or on the other end of the scale it could even be worth more than the original purchase price if it has expensive upgrades and well maintained
