As per title. Asking for a friend so don't know the condition of the Dogma. Have things moved on enough in the last 4 years for new to be a better option? If new is the best option, where should he start looking for £2-2.5K. The only thing I can recommend from personal experience is the Defy range.

Is it a Think 2 or a 65.1 Dogma?

If i was trying to spend that sort of money on a road bike i'd be looking at Mason Cycles Definition with 105 hydraulics

Sorry, forgot to say it's the Dogma 60.1. Don't know any details other than that.

Seems pricey.....what's the group set , wheels etc??

60.1 hasn't got the internal wiring option like the 65.5 ..think..etc

I've got a 60.1 2012 dogma in British cycling colours....and I would value mine at around £1500-£1800 ( it's not for sale)

No idea on spec I'm afraid, which I appreciate makes the question hard to answer properly. Will try to find out. I guess what I'm really asking is how good is the Dogma 60.1 frameset and, if it were your money, would you go for that over new options? If not, which new options would you be looking at?

Probably best to just go new. By the time you get to £2.5k you're well into the realm of diminishing returns, and I would definitely take the warranty and new components over a theoretically higher end bike that's 3/4 years old and could have a lot of worn components.

Apparently groupset is Campagnolo Record 10sp, wheelset is Most Wildcat.

Cannondale Caad 12 with Dura Ace would be my choice at that price..

I say buy new. It's not cheap enough to consider over a new giant, canyon etc etc etc

Nds, I'm not convinced the Dogma's are all that good, certainly not that model anyway.

For that much he could get a nice carbon frame, an Ultegra Di2 group set and some good wheels if he was careful in his buying choices. That's certainly what is do, in fact it's what I did, I custom specced a Sensa from Merlin.

Has he got an Audi that he can adorne with his new trophy bike? If not just buy new.

I would be weary of buying a 2nd hand dogma just based on the number of fakes that get imported from china.

Now I'm far from the biggest Pinarello fanboi and actively slated them as overpriced generic open mold rubbish. HOWEVER I hired a bike when out in Italy and they only had Pinarello Marvels (which I think are the old Dogma 60.1 frames). Utterly appalled that I had to ride one, I went out on it about 4 times in total and it was bloody lovely. So comfy, fast, handled well - I seriously couldn't think of a nicer bike I've ridden (and I've had a few nice bikes in the past - Storck, Argon 18 and so on).

If it were my 2.5k, I'd be either buying a new Ultegra Marvel or the new GAN which is the same frame as the F8 but using cheaper carbon.

The one mentioned does sound overpriced - own brand wheels and some ancient Record (when did they start doing 11 speed?). I'd go for a cheaper model but buy new.

Thanks for all the feedback. Seems to be a clear consensus that the Dogma is overpriced - I'll pass the info on.
