My wheels don’t match my feels.
First world problem No234455601:
What I have:
Hope Tech Enduro 29er on Hope Evo Pro2 (QR front and rear)
Wheels are like new, run beautifully.
So what?
My hardtail just died so now all I have for MTB is this rigid 29+ (except with rims that are 23mm internal)
What would be a good ‘like for like‘ wheel-swap? Would like to be able to run up to 2.8 tyres. Quieter rear hub would be a Brucie bonus.
Strength slightly over weight although I do ride light for a lardy. May also be time to go tubeless. Will need to sell the Hopes to fund the swap hence ‘like for like’.
Or find new 30-35mm rims with similar erd and just swap rims over using same spokes? Will probably cost less than buying new wheels and selling the existing ones.
^. Thnks
Wheels don’t have to be new. Rims plus build might still be costly?
Pair of decent rims around £150 a set. Assuming no new spokes or nipples needed, that's not bad if you do it yourself.
I reckon £60 labour? Takes me an hour from scratch to build and true a wheel. So £200ish.
If you need new spokes because of different ERD, at most £1 a spoke. So, £260 all in.
That's a lot cheaper than a pair of new Hope wheels.
Should have said - I don’t have a budget, I just have these wheels.
So looking at £200-ish used?
