So looking at Gipiemme Roccia Equipe 700c/29 Inch Disc Wheelset from Planet X ( http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/WPGIROEQ/gipiemme-roccia-equipe-700c-29-inch-disc-wheelset) £55 all in.

Now I'm not expecting miracles on longevity but going to use to make myself a winter commuter/everything bike. Was looking to get some WTB Nano 40C on it but after contacting Planet X about whether the rims would fit a 40c the response was we dont know...

So anybody got these wheels or know if they'll take a 40c?

Cheers

On my 29er rims (19mm internal width) I ran 700x35mm with no problems.

I assume as long as the tyres are not super skinny or like 29x2.5" they should fit easily.

Although the product description doesn't mention internal rim width, it will be absolutely fine. Likely to be 19mm which is ideal really. I've run 25mm road tyres perfectly on 19mm rims and is fine up to 2.2 or more so you'll be fine. Not bad for £55

Just been looking at these also, much of an upgrade from Alex DP17s? They are sub 2kg so knock 250g+ from them but how strong are they? They just seem to cheap! Although maybe worth a shot for my hybrid (which does 99% road anyway) Would be using some rubino pro 700x28c tyres and a 9 speed cassette too so hope theyd be suitable, they really do just seem too cheap aha.

Just bought a pair to set up as 'road' wheels for the Genesis Vagabond (that I've also just bought!) Hoping they'll be ok with some 30c Conti touring tyres I've got.
