[Closed] 29er Tubeless tyre advice - for the less than subtle

I have a long forked 29er hardtail (140) and it is an absolute ripper.
I am struggling with tyres to match the speed of the bike coupled with my overall lack of subtlety.

The front isn't a problem a Hans Damph 2.35 (with tube) on Stans Flow.
(advice on Stans website suggests not running Schwalbe tubeless).

For the rear, in summer I ran a Maxxis Ardent 2.3 LUST fitted tubeless to Stans Flow. Great tyre but I still managed to put two small holes in the tread and side wall in the Lakes. They repaired ok and I continued to use it until recently when I found that the tread depth struggled with all the mud.

Changed over to a Continental M/King Protection 2.2 fitted tubeless. Was ok for a couple of weeks and then the side wall gave way on a rocky fast descent.

I am after a heavy, wide, 29er tyre like the Maxxis Ardent but with a deeper tread pattern for the winter. Preferably a UST carcass or similar. Any ideas would be great?

Also where they can be sourced as it is still difficult to get hold of 29er tyres.

Thanks

Spesh Purgatory, great all round winter tyre, not torn mine yet, works well on anythign from dry trails to mud (it's not a mud tyre, but it copes), some people don't like it as a front tyre, I've not had any problems but soem people do, I do run it quite soft though (22-25psi and I'm 15stone) being rigid. And tubeless is always straight foreward. Available anywhere that sells Spesh bits.

Wearing ridiculously slowly on my SS too, but it doesn't do may road miles or trail centers which probably helps.

Hans Dampf Pacestar? Not the fastest but sounds like what you need…

Are you sure the Stans advice isn't pre tubeless ready schwalbes?

Edit: HDs front and rear in relevant compounds, tubeless on AMerican Classic All Mountains on an Orange Gyro – rips!

i am running Specialized Ground Control 29er Control Version as a set and forget winter tubeless tyre, they are pretty good all round, I find them on par with a Beaver for mud and grippier than a Purgatory on wet roots, plus a hell of lot more lighter

Thanks for all the advice.

I have re-checked the Stans website it appears to have been updated (or I'm going mad). It used to say something like 'Due to a number of failures effectively rendering tyres useless, (even with a tube) Stan cannot reccomend using Schwalbe Tubeless Ready tyres without tubes'.

I guess Schwalbe weren't happy and asked them to withdraw.
I note on the current guidance Schwalbe are notable by their absence.

Hence why I have only tried them with tubes. I do have to agree they are a fantastic tyre.

Another running HDs tubeless on flows with no problems, both 26 and 29 sizes.

HD pacestar +1, ignore what it says on Stan's web-site - it's probably out of date before Schwalbe sorted out their tubeless ready stuff. I've been running the 26" versions for ages tubeless on Flows and had no issues.
