I've got a '17 Trek Fuel EX5 which was 27.5plus

with Sectors on the front. I've had a set of 29er DT Swiss EX471s built onto Hope Pro 4s.

I live and ride in the Lakes and love good steep tech descents.

The Sectors are a bit flexy so I'm looking to upgrade.

So good people of STW,

Pikes or 34s?

Or what else would you recommend. Not looking too closely at budget, but not going daft.

cheers

Are Fox still as maintenance heavy as they used to be?

its been a while since I've bought forks.

Unsure of Fox as came from Bos which were amazing.

one would only imagine me imagine that new Foxes are v v good as most new top endish forks nowadays.

pikes win on stiffness and plushness plus there are options to tune and even convert to coil so I hear.

There seems to be so many forks nowadays that all do the same kinda job.

Pike, Yari, Revelation and 34s in various guises. Then all the other brands, DVO, BOS, X Fusion etc.

im a bit lost really

Been on a set of rc3 pikes for a year.

All good, not to tricky to service but does need an adaptor to bleed the cartridge.

99% as good as my marzocchi 55rc ti and 44 ti. Better than motion control boxxers and revation.

I'd buy another set if they got nicked without hesitation

X Fusion I also know are decent and that was just the RL2 model Velvets.

if you can find a decent set of roughcut damper X-Fusions for cheap then they would be ideal as deals to be done iirc on their kit.

I'm in a similar situation, looking for some 29er boosts 160mm.

Weighing up between -

Fox 36 Performance elites RC2

Lyrik debonairs

DVO Diamond

MRP Ribbon

Totally lost which way I should go.

I'd imagine all of the forks listed above will be great.  Forks nowadays are great compared to a dcadde or so ago.

I have MRP Ribbon coils, they are fantastic.

Got a Yari with a luftkappe & novyparts splug

It's better than my pikes in every way

You can also get a similar one from fast, get it custom set up for your weight

Fast also do the 3 way damper too, for even more fettlability

That's very interesting.

Yaris are soooo well priced.

adjustability is great, but if they're set up right, then there's no need to adjust.

my pal at Evans (suspension tech) set up the Sectors and they're sweet. Just a bit wibbly.
