Am thinking of building up a disc-braked cx bike and could possibly use the wheels off my 29er.
I'm sure I've read that some folks have had issues fitting cx tyres to Stans Crest 29er rims - any user thoughts out there?
Cheers

I've had no problems fitting cx or commuting tyres to my mavic 29er rims. I think they were 719 rims but I can't remember as I've taken the decals off. They came as the stock wheels on my clockwork pro if that helps. I'm currently using them on my rx9.

Cx bike currently has a set of 29er wheels of a specialized stump jumper
But fitted with 700c conti gator skin tyres.
Also got some stans race gold 29er wheels with proper cx tyres fitted

Happily use CX tyres on my Crest 29er rims. Have used Continental and Bontrager tyres. No particular issues.

Ran specialised fast track 29 tires on mavic a319 rims, no problems!

Ta folks, I couldn't see what a problem would be but thought I'd read it somewhere...
Good news for my cunning cx plans then 🙂

Believe Rob Jebb won the three peaks on crest rims on his cross bike.

Just be aware that some CX frames are 130mm rear, although 135mm seems to be becoming the norm with the introduction of disc brakes.

It's just gets a bit more interesting if you want to rub tubeless cross tyres on 29'ers

I have been doing a bit of reading up on this and some people have had problems with certain tires on crests, makes sense really the crest is about 6mm wider that some 700c rims. In turn its only a little wider than stans own iron cross rim.

The other thing is that if you are running tubed roadie tires and were trying to get near maximum pressure I don't think the crest is rated high enough as they are meant to be used with bigger low pressure tires.
