OK...I've trawled through other threads and seems to be conflicting advice.

I just bought my first Race 29er...predominently for racing and XC riding. Maybe with the odd trail, north downs etc etc. But not rock gardens, air time etc. That said, I can be a bit agriculural in riding style. Sometimes I get it wrong and bash my bikes a little.

I weigh 193lbs. Probabably over 200lbs with kit. Crests are noted as having a 190lbs weightlimit on their site. They'll be the hope hoop options.

I run crest 26" on my other bike. No real issues.

Am I being paranoid....or am should I heed the warning on their site?

Or should I take a weight penalty and go Arch?

i weigh nothing like that and stuck arches on my 29er.

found my 26" 355s a bit "wet noodle" and wanted to avoid that on my 29er

I didn't think Crests had a weight limit, just Stan's wheels sets!
Crests would be fine as long as the wheels are built well, I weigh more than you and mine have been no problem at all!

I have Crests rims on my Trigger 1 29er. I weigh 240lbs. I haven't ridden it yet but don't expect them to last too long.

I have both in 29, can't say I feel a lot of difference in weight. I weight 76kg in my birthday suit, ride where you ride and have never noticed Crests flexing.

Would you mind hammering a rock garden tonight and reporting back?

No not really.

I have a slight buckle on my Arch front wheel on my HT XC 29 from aggressive XC riding.

I weight 14.5 stone (203 kg) in my birthday suit, carry 2 kg of water in my hydropak and ride a 29er hardtail on North Downs, Bedgebury and Surrey Hills on Crest Rims, I have 2 sets and have had no problems.

I wrecked my crest rear in 6 months countless broken spokes and then it pringled, I am top side of 6.3 and weigh just over 100kg in riding gear. Swopped to an arch rear. if you are big go for an arch at least in the rear.

Are 29" Crests much weaker than 26" Crests? I thought Crests were meant to be quite tough? Thats why I bought some (26") so I could save my Olympics for racing. I realise that being larger makes them weaker per se but assumed some extra stuff was done to compensate.

My Crests are on a HT and 3 years old and basically fine. Some truing I think but never let me done on the day.

Ive just bought some 26" Archs for my FS and they are also fine but a wee bit heavier (same hubs).

I don't know, but 29 Crests are not flimsy flippy floppy things.

Mccraque
what was that built on? Hope? And what were you riding?

Its on a hope pro 2 hub and is on my Yeti Big top (awesome bike) I do ride neck end of 100 miles a week on it so they get a hammering

Crests are not overly flimsy but to me if you are a big or strong bloke fit something else.

First ride tonight and I stacked it at speed across some roots on a corner. Bike 1 - pjm84 0.

Front end tucked under and I went down hard. Fully expected the front Crest rim to have a buckle and I can report back that it does not.

Think I will leave the rock garden until I get the suspension set up though.

Hope you weren't too badly hurt @pjm84

I ordered some Arch's on red hubs, as red is faster...compensating for the slightly heavier rim....
😆
