As a general rule , are they roughly the same ... size wise, rake etc ?? ... looking at wider forks for my Arkose that arent silly money, came across a few 29er forks with good clearance etc

Typically the 29er forks will be longer axle to crown as will be compensating for suspension and come in a range of A-C lengths because of that.  700c forks are usually shorter as only made for 23c - 30c tyres.

Rake will differ but will normally be around 40 - 45mm.

So no, not really - you just need to look at the measurements of your forks compared to any new one.

29er forks tend to be 440-490mm long, 700C / CX 390-400mm. Arkose plus 29er fork = chopper handling : )

You need 395mm +/- 5mm length, 45-52mm offset. Within that range of common CX fork spec combos there will be some handling differences. Nothing drastic, just depends on how much those variations matter or bother you.

Measure the length of your current fork - an MTB fork may be 420-440 axle-centre whereas a road / gravel fork will be 380-410mm so just consider the impact on geometry. I have used a 425mm 26er carbon MTB fork quite happily on my SS CX - slackens the headtube angle by 1 degrees but you soon get used to it.

Yes, any 29er fork on an Arkose would ruin the handling, even a typical 26" MTB fork would.

What sort of size tire are you trying to fit in there?  You may struggle to get much more clearance than you have with the standard fork, unless you go for a steel thing like a Soma Wolverine Lugged fork or Surly Straggler 700c, which take 2.1inch 29er tyres or pretty big 650b's

Just trying to squeeze a 2.1 maxxis re-fuse in 650b,clears by 2mm max ! .... its a 2016 frame and fork , later ones have more clearance , may end up buying another frame an fork, although ive just had some narrower clements come which should fit easily
