Which Stan's rims.
Crests on mine.
29er hardtail (scandal), I'm not heavy so wasn't/not worried about having the lighter of the stans options.
Make your choice dependent on your preferred riding terrain/style. I don't ride downhill or big jumps so crests seemed like the right choice.
I've just purchased a pair for my Genesis Fortitude S/S and went for Flow EX. Better safe than sorry and being fully rigid, I reckon my rim takes a beating (fnar)
flows
Was thinking about the arch as comes with QR and 15mm and if I've read it right is good balance of weight/strength.
Pity I missed the offer at halfords
Halfords didn't have any of the Arch anyway
What sort of riding do you do? What bike? Are you 'big boned'? 😳
I use both arch and crest, not had a problem with either. Generally crest is for racing but has been battered round trail centres without an issue, I'm around 190 lbs kitted up. If only had one set it would be arch for piece of mind though.
I use crests and I've only killed one in 2.5 years.
They're stronger than a lot would have you believe. The 355's on my old 26" FS survived everything I threw at them from the peaks to the freeride section at 'degla
For a Solaris. Ride everything from XC to the occasional DH run.
I'm not what you call a racing whippet .
Thinking about it sometimes my crests can be a right git to get some tyres on, never have that problem with the archs. Borrowed a set of American classics, now they are light !
Any deals anywhere at the moment on 29er hope hoops? Ideally arch but could cope with flows?
Since you can buy seperately I'd say Arch front, Flow rear given you're not a racing whippet, they are on a hardtail and you ride the occasional DH run
Flows on my Solaris.

Winstanleys are the cheapest I've found. Despatched my Single speed rear on Flow EX next day for £191. £250 is the current retail
Following on from this what are the pros and cons for straight pull spokes.
i've got some 29er hope evo2 on stans crest wheels I'd sell. if anyones interested PM me
Flows on my Scandal and very pleased. Really solid, easy to get a tyre on/off.
Straight pull spokes:
PRO's
- arguably stronger (spokes usually break at the shoulder)
- look well cool
Cons
- harder to get spokes when you are at a trail centre
- harder to get rebuilt with new rims
- second hand value of the hubs is way low
Personally I am not a huge fan.
Scant YGM...
I have Flow EX on my Meta 55, and ArchEX on my 29er rigid single speed.
Love both, get margin better tyre profile on the Flows due to the extra width, but both really good strong rims.
Sounds like Arch EX's will be perfect for what you want.
