I've been thinking of getting a second bike and wanted something different to my current Blur. So obviously the only choice was a 29er hardtail with a Rohloff and Gates carbon belt drive.
Apart from a Nicolai Argon and a Spot Rocker, does anyone know what my options are?
On one Inbred can take a belt.

If my eyes aren't deceiving me it looks to be a smart place to cut through - I take it the swappable drop out out re supports where the frame has been cut.

Do Belt drives take mush setting up? Is it straight forward enough to tension the belt?
Educate me - why a belt when a cheap ass BMX chain works and keeps working on a ss/hub gear setup? I don't even oil mine unless I forget it's the ss in the workstand.

I think it's a daft place to put a cut, as the Swapout doesn't support it, just bolts across it.
Just can't see that on an MTB a belt is of any benefit. My Motorbike has one and on the road it makes some sense for lower maintenance where chain lube is horrid stuff.
However off road mountainbikes in the uk? Finishline wet lube is your friend.
Alfine 11 on a fatbike would be my choice of new niche bike.

Van Nicholas do the Zion in 29 for chain or 26 for belt.
I asked about a 29er belt with a Lefty head tube and it would have been an extra 495 Euros for a custom build frame. About £1600 in total.
I didn't ask if it would cost the same for just the belt conversion without the Lefty head tube.

Jonathan - looks like Mark is planning good things. A hardtail on the way, they've a proto 26in, but he wouldn't confirm if a 29er was on the way or not!
That inbred needs an outer plate too. Not a good place to cut it.
Belt drives are ace. simple as that. I love mine.

Mine did, because the suspension linkages give a little too much play. but new dropouts solved it (search my history). Gates centre-track system would have helped too.
Tensioning is as per a normal tensionging system, but you do need lots, although not so much you have to re-tension every time you remove the wheel. From my experience of chain-drive bikes with EBBs, I wouldn't trust them. Track-ends with tugnuts, or sliding dropouts are the better way to do it.
EBBs work fine mine never skips a beat and has been runbning belt drive for some time now
What frame is that on Ringo?
I had slipping issues with a Thorn, and (not as bad) with a Singular. Enough to put me off them.
