So to balance my riding world ( main bike is a rigid fat bike) what 29er will take a coil shock, can be an older version of bike as well, I fancy a complete contract to the rigid Stooge fat that I have.

Any thoughts or options?

Second the RocketMAX.  A couple of years ago I tried a Spesh Enduro 29 with Ohlins coil shock and that was rather nice.  (Oh, and I just happen to have an Enduro 29 frame up for sale.....cough)

Hightower can take a coil.  Some say that they don't suit a coil though, but others swear by it.

As above, 200x57 is a very common xc style shock and available in most coil shocks. Pick the frame you want then fit the shock you want after

Emailed Cotic and they said that running a coil shock on my FlareMax would be great - so long as you can get the right metric length shock. It's so progressive I'll be giving it a go when funds allow.

My understanding re full  suspension design is that not all designs will work for coil shocks, the older yetis definitely won't, hence checking out. Some like the specialized ensure will, hence checking out.

johnw1984 : Hightower can take a coil.  Some say that they don’t suit a coil though, but others swear by it.

The crux with most frames' suitability seems to be whether they are progressive at the end of the stroke because a coil, unlike an air shock, isn't. Otherwise you'll just blow though the travel, or have to run a stiffer spring / less sag which can then feel harsh.

The Hightower is only slightly progressive so I guess it depends on how aggressive a rider you are as to whether it's supportive enough for you?

I've been looking at this recently as it happens.  New MRP Hazzard is available with progressive wound springs for this purpose.

The springs will fit other shocks with spacers if necessary.

If it's as good as the MRP coill fork, then it will be superb.

Picture this beast with any coil shock you desire.

I've had my Geometron long enough to get over the honeymoon period and there's still nothing I would rather have, especially after a couple of weeks in the Alps.

In addition to my Ice Cream Truck I have a Banshee Prime. Just swapped the ccdb air out for an inline coil and now on a Push Elevensix shock and the improvement is incredible. Highly recommended although does leave you wanting a better fork to match the shocks capability.

Can't get on with how the Geometrons pedal uphill (wheel flop), but don't mind them for DH use which is why I have a G19.

Used to run my rocket with a ccdb coil which was also excellent, pics on Bruce's blog.
