I have had a couple of 29ers ( a swift and an inbred)

Despite being of 29er size I have found the two that I have tried to be too tall ideally in the front. I prefer a lower front end.

I ran the Swift with its rigid fork and the inbred with a 80mm Reba.

In the not too distant future I would like to build another 29er but would like to address the above.

Any suggestions?

If you want to run rigid only the Ragley TD-1 is designed to run with short carbon fork and has low front end.

Look for one that takes an integrated headset rather than an external one, my Gary fisher X-cal was quite a bit shorter than my mates on one for the same size frame..

Some pics of your current set up would help us understand your issue.

Low front ends is something that has always been an issue for me until I got onto big wheels.

There is a limit to how short a head tube can be, I reheated headset, flat bars and flipped stems all help I you want to get lower. The Swift is quite high compared to many but I did not think the one ones were a problem. I had a fisher with a very short head tube but that was cr@p!

Hasn't the swift been changed to have a lower front end?

Genesis Fortitude is pretty low at the front (but like the Ragley TD-1, has been designed around a short axle-crown rigid fork)
