Hi, there's been some nice PSA lately for 27.5" forks, as I'm going to be building a 29er up I was looking for deals on 130mm forks, (boost)
The demo bike had some ridiculously good cane creek helm forks, not sure I can afford £800 big ones...I am tempted mind, anything screaming good deal?
I've got some factory 120mm boost 32s, take off from a new bike? Looking for £400.
rockshox-recon-rl-solo-air-fork £150 at DFS?
Looking for something a bit fancier, more along the lines of a pike/34. I have a set of 32's FIT4's on my hardtail and i really like them but its going to be a FS so looking for something a bit burlier. Like the performance of the Helm, but half the price you know..moon on a stick please.
Good to know that the ol' stealth wanted ad works though, maybe i should start one for 29'er wheels as well 😀
I know a very good compromise that’ll be middleish ground price wise and they’re available from our trusty ole CRC.
They are 32mm stantiobs but are boost and heavier than their claimed weight outta box with a sturdy brace and actually seem quite meaty.
I present you the DVO sapphire - which colour will youuuuuuuu chooooose?
;-d
MRP Ribbon from CRC for £690ish if you have a BC membership?
Yeah, there's a set of those DVO Sapphire's on eBay, but I dunno if I could live with the green...it is rather bold.
X-fusion McQueen roughcut hlr’s?
140 but you can (get) reduce to 130mm.
Not stonking exactly, but sub £500.
Px are doing that odd 'they're here, they're not' thing on 29+ Yaris for £233 at the moment. They've been on and off the site consistently for about the past 2 weeks. No idea if they actually have any or not..
The 29+ ones are very similar to the normal 29er boost ones, but with 10mm more a2c, and a maximum of 150mm travel. The PX ones are 100mm, but 40 quid gets you the upgraded '19 air shaft at whatever travel you want (up to the aforementioned 150)
If you want to go all out you could for a 200 quid charger 2 damper, and you'd have what's pretty much a slightly heavier '19 Lyrik for sub £500
not boost so:
130 mm 29er Reba, around 400 GBP
personally wouldn't spend that much noney for a fork right now. I would go really low cost right now (a used fork) and wait for one of these super winter sales. Bought a couple forks last winter at bike-components. One of those:
One 130 mm Fox 29er Float Rhythm fork for 199 Euro....
Right now, summer: not too many options out there. Bought three weeks ago a 27.5 , 140 mm Fox at CRC for 260 GBP. But that's not what you are looking for.
Wait for winter sale?
Yeah, there’s a set of those DVO Sapphire’s on eBay, but I dunno if I could live with the green…it is rather bold.
Bear in mind that those only have a 180mm steerer but may be enough for you. I literally would have had them off him for the right price had they come with a long enough steerer for my brake levers not to hit my toptube lol.
The green is lovely in the flesh and the quality of box they come in with all extras speaks volumes of the DVOs over say Fox/RS.
It’s the most I’ve ever spent on a fork or suss product for mtb at least and am expecting only amazing things from this fork. I didn’t even bother to wack up crc/bc code wanted here as thought they’d be gone in a flash at this price which is still nuts that they haven’t all sold out tbh.
🙂

I am almost tempted by the DVO Sapphire's and the singletrack review sounds good however threads like this

where DVO appear to have messed up the information within their service videos, doesn't fill me with confidence.
@dumbbot I'm in the same position. The OTT feature sounds great but I do worry about support.
They didn’t mesz up. They just went into a little detail for full service. It’s fine trust as I too followed that topic with interest and found it fine.
Just read it and you’ll see you got mothing to fear. I had mine reduced in travel by 20mm and am nearly ready to mount at end of month due to waiting for bloody boost adaptor kit.
🤬been waiting a month already🤬Hotlines the lame bassas.
I’d seriously go for the DVOs if I were you bud. Ronnie will sort you out via email with any queries.
They are really hands on to sort out anything.
I can’t wait to ride them! 😃
Yeah I did read it, basically dont open the damper side as you don't need to change the travel. How did you find removing the cap with pin spanners? I've also heard of people having problems removing that.
I will need to drop the travel to 130mm
Both lower legs need to be dropped iirc as was half watching them being done half chatting crap to the bloke.
He said that they were real tight and difficult to remove and that in my set the plastic spring guide had slightly cracked in length ways. No biggy ! As it just covers the negative coil spring Like the heat shrink wrap on Fox vanillas of old.
Ronnie sent me out a new one straight from USA. Arrived in next to no time.
as far as the pin spanner is concerned and tools yo complete job, if in doubt or like me have no vice then take to local suss service centre.
Oh yeah and no need to remove damper top side of leg as otherwise you’ll need to rebleed that.
gold spectro mix oil can be used iirc but no to RS as that can apparently mess with the seals due to a foaming additive or something.
