Got a pair of 29" hope hoops with flows and racing ralphs, today I had my first puncture and encountered the task of removing a tyre in the pizzing rain. I have not used tyre levers for years, having relied on chipps hands only method. So are there any tyres that can be got on/off flows without levers and the strength of hulk.
Not fussed what, as long as they are round and nobbly.
And no I dont want to go tubeless.

Ta in extreme anticipation.

Pete

You're already on Flows, but don't want to run tubeless? 😕

MAxxis Aspens seem quite a loose fit in general.

Ruben Scylla are the loosest i've ever seen/fitted though.

As above, why not tubeless?

Also this +1:

Smorgasbords went on mine a piece of piss.

(chunky monkey on the front though).

Yeah, why did you buy Flows if you don't wanna go tubeless?

Cos I wanted some tough wheels, would have much prefered mavic as in 26 mode I have always used 521/321, however the only offering from mavic is 719. Asked around for rim suggestions and all I got was Flows.
I am about to need a pair of 29 wheels for a sultan - rim recomendations welcome 😀

Flows are good rims whether or not you want to go tubeless.

Stans Flow work well on my Sultan.

Use the 'well' in the middle of the rim. Seriously - push the tyre back into there, work it down all the way around. Works very well and often overlooked by people. I was 'annoyed' until I worked out how to do it properly.

Smorgasbord went onto mine pretty easily, Chunky Monkey more difficult bu still doable without levers. Harder to get off mind.

Are flows that much different to crests other than rim width because my racing Ralphs went on and off no problem. It's only tight if you don't pop it off the bead of the rim all the way around before trying to take it off.

Some tyres are easy some are a pain in the rear. Rubber queens fell on for me, and go tubeless or you're wasting good rims.
If you do go tubeless, i found 1 inch duck tape far better than stans tape or the rubber strip with built in valves

I've got the same set-up, but tubeless. Not had a puncture for 11 months now!
