I thought CX bikes had 130mm spacing - the same as road wheels. Won't MTB hubs be too wide to fit, or have you got 135mm spacing on the bike?
disc braked cx frames usually have 135mm spacing though FWIW my 130mm CX frame with disc adaptor takes a 135mm hub without too much trouble
I'm using Arch Ex on Circus Monkey disc hubs FWIW - well under £300 and work flawlessly tubeless.
