Hmm. I sufficiently convinced on technical merits and the odd test ride that a 29'er hardtail is in my future. The question is which?

Until recently I've been running a Ti456 singlespeed with 120mm forks. Its a great bike that I've not had any real complaints about but its now sold and when I replace its going to be a 29'er.

So, whats similar to a Ti456 but in 29'er flavour?

Suggestions and experiences?

Are you after Ti again?

If not look for 100mm 29er like the Singular Swift

Or pester Sam Alison until he makes you a Swift in titanium - Pegasus would be a good name for it.

Like me, I had a ti456!

I swapped everything onto a Scandal frame. No looking back!

I'm not sure there really is a 456 equivalent yet. When someone comes out with a light but burly 120mm ti 29er I think they'll clear up. Where are you On One? Cotic have confirmed their Solaris won't get a Soda equivalent, which is a pitty, but would have been a whole lot more expensive than an On One anyway.

I think eventually it will be Ti, but not until I'm sure what I want. My mate candodavid has just got one of those Swifts, but he's a filthy rigid pervert. I most definitely want suss forks on mine!

Is the Ridgeline rated for 120s bigdug? I'll have to take a closer look if so.

That's me sorted then. I'll just wait for one of your cast offs Ton. Can I point Sir in the direction of an xl Solaris first off? 😆

Edit: cheers Dug. You're obviously enjoying it. Have you had other 29ers to compare it to?

I'm having unnatural urges too... I'm exactly split between a new frame for the downhill bike, or switching the rigid XC bike to 29er, which is probably a bit of a weird combo. But last month there were loads of ano scandal 29ers on ebay, now there's none 🙁

Only 8 or 9

How would you say it compares? I've a feeling it might fit the bill for me if I get the bug so much that I feel the need to replace my Soda. Haven't really ridden my RIP9 enough to know yet though.

Whats the general feeling towards FS 29ers?

I'm being a bit temped by the Slasa Spearfish.

That's a stock Scandal that's on the water now. With a stock Works Component 1.5deg angle set for a tapered steerer Reba.

Rode it today. Goes nicely.

swift with a suspension fork - fantastic. I'd offer you a test ride but I think mine would be a bit big.[img] [/img]

That looks interesting Brant. Any more details?

Fenred - my albeit limited experience of fs 29ers, or my RIP9 at least, is that they're scarily smooth and fast and the sort of thing a slow witted and underskilled rider like me into trouble rather quickly. A right laugh though.

Edit: beat me to it.

Banshee aren't allowed to use their own name in the UK so they badge them up as Mythics instead.
Though it did come with some Banshee downtube stickers in the box. 😆

Back end was a little harsh but not as bad as some 26er hardtails I've owned in the past.

I never thought you'd ask Colin!

The O-O long travel ti frame that got 'lost' would have been a start.

Similar frames, different material, all mentioned above. I've never owned any of them 😳

Cotic Solaris might be worth the wait?

Ssstu- cheers
You ever ridden a hummer , not the smoothest riding ti bike, but I imagine way smoother than a paradox.
I don't like harsh , as said above somewhere, ti one of them or Canfield would be tip top.

So - I need to think about selling a bike to make space for it PDQ?

druidh, you can't be serious about getting a 29er????? For me being 29er curious lasted a very short time indeed, mine's on its way! It's an expensive curiosity, banish it now!

Yes devs - I reckon so. . I think riding my CX bike around has convinced me that a 29er could be the perfect thing for bike packing.
