The Maxxis Advantage comes highly recommended to me for my riding terrain. Anyone know if it's available in a 29er, or an equivalent exists with a similar tread pattern.

The Maxxis ardent is similar
Not quite as deep tread, so a bit faster

I like the ADvantages too. The Ardent was the closest I could find in a 29er.

Running 29er flavour ardents - pretty good overall, although not great in sloppy stuff

29er flavour ardents

*Considers past experience with said tyres and shudders*

Have just got some 29er Maxxis Ikons they seem to be very good so far, plenty of grip wet and dry and fast rolling , not tried mud yet, 😀

Running an Ikon on the back and an Ardent on the front - seem to find grip in most conditions with a nicely controlled slide if you push them. Nice and quick rolling too. Don't get much gloopy mud round our way though even in the depths of winter so that probably favours these tyres.

Thanks very much, I think I'll try out either the Ardent or Ikon. I'll let you know how they handle mud, as we get plenty of that.
