I´m very interested in the Canyon Neuron AL
https://www.canyon.com/en-at/mountain-bikes/trail-bikes/neuron/al/
I´m height challenged so will need a Small size. Small comes with 27.5 wheels. M up to XL comes with 29.
Can I at a later stage put 29 inch wheel on this bike?

Some time ago there was a thread on 29er wheels in 26er frames so probably is possible on some bikes.

At a guess, yes if it's 27.5+ tyres, no if standard 27.5 tyres.

Assuming there's enough clearance around the seat & chainstay to physically get the larger wheel in (depends if they use the same rear end on all sizes which i doubt), i also wonder whether the tyre would hit the back of the seattube when suspension is fully compressed....i doubt it's possible

It'll depend on the frame and fork. I have a 27.5 Kona Kula hardtail with Fox 32 forks. I can get a 29 x 2.00 tyre in there, but it's a tight squeeze and no way it'll take anything like a 2.3 tyre.

Edit. Also, I don't run it with 29" wheels any more because the clearance to the chainstays is fairly minimal and they were getting ground away when it was muddy.

My G170 will take a 29er rear... i don't think it'd take a 29er front though

Small uses shorter chainstays than medium and up. I'd wager a 29er rear wouldn't squeeze in, or if it did it'd be silly tight

Max tyre is 2.4 so I'll guess no, if it does there won't be much room and the tyre could hit the seatclamp before bottoming out, the design of the hope seatclamp for example can do that with the correct size wheel on some older frames when using tyres slightly wider than original spec width, the tyre could also smack the saddle as well when it's dropped down and you bottom out.

I'm going with no. The small will be designed around the smaller wheels and even if they'd turn (which I doubt they would) it'll probably balls up the bike. Centre of gravity too high for starters, and a lot more trail than the bike is set up for.

Just look up the outside diameter of wheels with different tyre sizes. There's quite a bit of overlap. You might just be restricted to small tyres.

Iirc 27.5 x 2.8 = 29 x 2.3 ish

The smaller/27.5 Neurons have a shorter chainstay (430mm) than the 29er models(440mm), so very much doubt a 29er will fit. It won't fit the fork either.

Canyon say max clearance is a 27.5x2.4 tyre on a 25mm rim, so anything above re plus/2.8 tyres won't apply.

The chain stays on the 27.5 ones are 10mm shorter

so there will be 10mm less clearance, and a 29er might hit the seat tube at full compression

so I'd say no, unless you are planning a really skinny tyre.

How about a mullet....?
