What are the pros and cons of 28c tyres on a 2016 Defy advanced pro 2-assuming they will fit of course. I have always fitted 25c tyres on my road bikes but the state of the Cambridgeshire roads are making me think bigger. Will an average and ancient rider notice any difference in rolling resistance? Continental GP5000 probably.

My 2017 Advanced Pro is wearing tubeless 28mm GP5000s. I am also average and ancient and they felt faster than the 25s they replaced, grippier and more comfortable. If the 2016 has the space I'd say go for it.

I've got 4 seasons 28's on mine which is the same year I believe. I can still use my Raceblade Pro XL's as well though it takes a little more tweaking than with 25's fitted.

I'm not sure I notice much difference in comfort but I'm light and can run 25's at 50-60 psi with tubes without issues

I had 28mm GP4000s on my 2015 Advanced Pro on 17mm internal rims. I hear the 5000s come up smaller than the 4000s. They were a bit lightbulb profile but handled fine and comfy. Now on 30mm Pro Ones on 23mm internal rims and they fit fine too. I say go for it, no downsides for me

Cons - Probably none
Pros - Possibly none, all depends if that extra air volume from the 3mm extra width makes a big enough difference on rough tarmac to provide any benefit.
