You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Use the bike mostly for commuting and urban riding, some jumping around but no big drops. It's a rigid bike so I like a little cushioning in my tires. Live in Berlin so it's often quite wet. Offroad performance not important. In order of weight:
Continental Contact Speed ??Perf...570g 17€
MAXXIS Refuse............................610g 35€ tubeless
Schwalbe Maraton Supreme.........640g 33€ grooves
WTB Thickslick..............................710g 36€ order from US only
Schwalbe Big Ben Raceguard.......745g 22€ grooves
Anecdotally one forum member says he prefers the Refuse over the Thickslick, the Refuse seems like the best deal here, but perhaps there are other contenders I should evaluate? I previously rode the Big Ben and was happy with it, but wouldn't mind shaving off a few grams and tubeless compatibility is a minor plus.

Looks matter a bit too 😉
those look ace 8)
do Schwalbe to the G-One in 27.5?
That's a decent road/commute type of tyre.

Great find! The G-one is 500 grams, tubeless comp and 46 euro. Expensive but could be a winner.
I'm running Panaracer Gravel KIngs (in 47mm, didnt check if they come bigger as thats the max i can fit with fu length guards). Really great on gravelly, foresty, river paths etc around Frankfurt.
Yes, they come in 48mm/1.9 at 520g. 36 euro each.
Compass tyres esp this one

Very light and tubeless. I know Sven cycles in the UK are now distributing them.

Thanks for the compass tip, bit over my budget and I might want something a bit heftier (black sidewalls only avail in extralight hehe)

Not light at 750g each, but great rolling resistance and better durability than G-One Speeds. Might be a better commuter and the weight won't be a big deal unless you like smashing KOMs between traffic lights and junctions, or your commute involves significant inclines.
Yes I've looked at them, rolling resistance differences not so important, regarding weight, lighter is better but I value puncture resistance and durability more. Leaning toward the Refuse atm, the G-ones seem a bit fragile.
I do ride like a maniac (with safety focus)..
A little outside your brief but perhaps still worth considering is the Grand Bois, 'Hetre' tyres made by Panaracer. Only 42mm wide but have proven excellent in all conditions on our tandem; it's a skinwall tyre, so good feel and compliance. These have coped well with both a long tour right around Ireland and with fast riding in a mountain sportive in cold, wet weather.
I decided to givve the Refuse a try as they seem quite sturdy and look guth, not too bad at 35 eur w free shipping.
