Now manufacturers are making their different wheel sized frames fit both which is best for plus?

for example

pace rc627 is 27.5 and takes a 2.8 plus tire

pace rc529 is 29 and takes a 2.8 plus tire

is fork offset and bottom bracket height the only difference to take into condsideration?

Bottom bracket drop/height is the one I notice.  I have a Genesis Tarn and two sets of wheels, I definitely prefer the bb height with 27.5 x 2.8 tyres.  But it is still good with 29s.  But the diff is noticeable.  I guess you need to look at the numbers and a frame you know you like the bb height of and try to work it ouot from there.

You might also neeed to consider how big a 29" tyre you can fit in your plus/boost fork.

On some, such as my hightower, you get a flip chip to adjust the height depending on wheel size.

Not so easy to adjust hieght with hardtails.  Although I have thought that an adjustable height bottom bracket would be a useful thing for wheel swapping.

I've just ordered spokes to build up a 27+ wheelset for my 29er  Some EBB tinkering is definitely in my future!

I would have thought the SolarisMax would have this "issue" too. Anyone run both wheel sizes and notice it much?

My Shan GT comes with a headset spacer if you want to run plus wheels and not have it go really low in the BB when running same fork.

Thanks for the replies.

I have a Chameleon with 27.5+ dropouts and both 29 and 27.5+ wheels. I know you can get 29er dropouts that are 8mm lower so you can tune it to a specific wheel size but I haven’t bothered.

I was just looking at how similar the geo of the new Pace RC627 is to my Chameleon in the XL size. But the Pace is designed around 2.6 and a 44mm offset fork and my Chameleon is designed as a 29er to use a 51mm offset fork.

I much prefer the plus wheels over the 29s so I wondered if there would be a noticeable difference between fork offsets.

Maybe my question should have been which fork offset is best for 2.6-2.8 27.5 wheels?

I only have one set of forks (X-Fusion McQueen Roughcut - seriously good) which apparently have 46mm offset.  Handling feels fine with both wheel sizes (frame has a 68 degree quoted head angle, less for me as the forks are 140mm, frame designed for 120mm).

There has been quite a few discussions on here about offset, some folk don't notice it others fret about it.  Probably it depends on a few other factors, eg head angle and whether the frame is "short" or "long" for your body size.
