The mention of 27.5+ seems to have disappeared on all the new Cotic Max full suspension model pages. Does anyone know if the frames can still run 27.5+ instead of 29? Think particularly of the Jeht and Flare MAX.
I guess B+ isn’t a ‘thing’ anymore.
ive only ever run it on my SolarisMAX’s on which the current web info say 29x2.6 or 27.5x3.0.
the FlareMAX and Jeht both say 29x2.5 which I would equate to 27.5x2.8 max (and even then as long as it wasn’t a ‘big’ 2.8).
boost sorts out the chain line (esp as only 1x). 27.5x2.8 isn’t as ‘tall’ as a normal 29er let alone 2.5 so I’d be pretty confident a 2.8 Trail Boss would fit .
ive a 29x2.4 Judge on the back of the (previous gen) FlareMAX which has plenty clearance (on a skinny Hope enduro rim). Was always going to see if the “2.6” Hillbilly (spec say it’s a 2.5 on a 30mm id rim) would fit but never actually gotten around to trying it...
its the rear that limits (obvs). And from memory Cy was advocating 2.8” on a 35mm wide rim as being the best compromise weight/B+ ‘benefits’. And that would’ve been knocking on 4 years ago.
Sorry can’t really be more helpful than that... 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks, that's all good info. It's a shame b+ has taken a back step as I for one like how it rides. Suspect it'll be a no go then. Less than 2.8" would defeat the point.
Don’t discount 2.8’s, got a set of 27.5 Hunt Enduro wheels with 2.8 Minion on the from and 2.6 Aggressor on the back of my RocketMax. Grip on the front is wonderful.
Many 275 x 2.8 will still fit, but you might find the BB too low on the later models if you go that way. Depends on how and where you ride. All references to B+ on droplink MAX bikes on the Cotic site have gone because it confused so many people… so much easier to just say “29er” in the end.
2.8 27.5 fits in a FlareMax, with no problems - and room to spare.
I ran mine as a mullet before i realise how much I hated the undamped movement of a 2.8 tyre ...
I’ve got the previous Solaris Max (cosmic black) - just stuck the plus wheels with a 2.85 rear (onza canis) on after running 29 2.6 all winter.
I love it. Absolutely flies on the plus wheels. 35mm wtb’s.
Ok so might be a case of suck it and see then. Rims on the wheels I was thinking of using are 30mm ID though I do have a set of 40mm ID on another bike (that has 3" tyres fitted).
It does lower the BB. I get a lot of pedal strikes anyway - and with a lower BB I get a lot more. But horses fore courses, I guess ,,,
