I am considering a dropper post for my hard tail. It is a specialized carve 29 and takes a 27.2mm post. I have been looking at the brand x below

Does anyone have experience with this dropper post?
Should I hold out for the planet x sale and get a Scandal frame that takes a proper sized dropper post ?
Or is it new bike time 😅
I fitted this to my cotic roadrat. No issues 2 years. Even with the external routing, it is pretty easy to secure out of the way.
Cool sounds like it will be a good choice then (and I can use some Christmas vouchers)
I have one on an XC hardtail. It works fine, but you are obviously limited to 4" drop. That's ok for XC riding, but a frame with a bigger seattube would let you fit a longer drop post. 6" drop makes a big difference over 4" for rough descents.
I have that post on my steel framed rigid.
It's good, very good for the money.
I ditched the original lever and fitted a Bontrager one (though I think it looks like there are two lever versions on that link)
The wrap over the bars one is weird and the cable exit point is terrible. The one more like a gear shifter is better but I find needs a lot of 'throw' to actuate the post.
No complaints except, it takes about a fortnight to return compared to my nice and swift Reverbs on other bikes.
Tried checking clamp tightness, cable lubeness. Nah, takes a fortnight.
Apart from that, pretty impressed.
Mine is still working fine after 11 months and 2000 miles. Discounted from £80 to £60, I think, and for that kind of money you can’t go wrong really. There is a little side-to-side play in the saddle but most droppers seem to. Mine isn’t slow. It is a little heavy.
I would take it over my temperamental Reverb any day. And way better than Gravity Dropper.
But, as mentioned, 100mm isn’t much. I still drop the post manually as well on gnarly stuff. Worth having a quick-release clamp.
Yes, it's very good. Only bit of work needed in a few years apart from a basic service is tightening up the cord that links the cable entry to the base of the post/actuator. Post had become sluggish due to the cord not being tight enough. Fixed easily and now it's rocket fast.
