As the title says I’m on the hunt for one but have i more chance finding world peace?

Built up a commuter hack thats actually turned into a cracking gravel bike.

Seat post is 27.2
I have 140mm from seatpost collar to mid seat rail.

Down tube is internal route but seat tube has not holes for internal routing and I cant get a cable past the BB shell if i ran through the frame and up seat post. Plus its a wheels screw together BB86 and now its in theres no way its coming out!

So i’m stuck with external routing.

PNW do the Pine which is 10mm too long to seat rails but figured i could just ride with it semi dropped.

But there seems to be practically nothing else out there……any ideas or anyone in same boat found anything?

Realistically its 70mm ish travel plus seat collar will fit.

I think Bike Yoke are bringing out/have bought out a 27.2 called the 272

80mm I think, but just realised I think it's internal, sorry. Will be much spendy as well 'd have thought. You could drill hole in down tube?

Brand X do a kids dropper, 27.2mm with a 70mm drop

Not seen a external routed one though

Looks like the KS Lev fits the bill

I know about the spend. Tis seemingly like fine dining so the less you get the more exponential the price!

Bit reluctant to drill the frame. Easier to try and get the bottom bracket back out and try frame routing i think.

'Tis naught but a "commuter hack". You said so yourself. It's fine really, I drilled 4 holes in Cannondale in an afternoon once and I'm still here to tell the tale.

So it is. It looks external but blurb said designed for internal so wrote it off.

Bit spendy though! Was hoping more brand x territory pricing!

thats how it started! But you jnow what it’s like………

Tis Dolan frame based and whilst it is the commuter hack it actually looks really nice and is starting to get used as more than that 😁

“Snip snip” go the BIG scissors as I hear them leaving the house and getting closer to my man cave at that level of spend.

Perfect sense to me. But alas not to everyone in my household 🤦‍♂️

I have a 100mm pnw pine on the hardtail in 27.2 flavour.
Not sure if you can reduce travel though, but it is a great dropper

The original dropper post 'Gravity Dropper' still sell their Turbo LP seatpost in many different variants - 2,3, or 4" drop for 27.2mm post. Their prices seem to have gone up quite a bit so perhaps too spendy for this project - but perhaps something to look out for 2nd hand.

ime eten was naff, because mud would fling up and jam the acuator mechanism under the saddle

@silasgreenback, if you didn't sort something, I just bought one of these:

https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/level-2019-dropper-post-black-27-2mm/

£40, 50mm drop, under-the-seat lever

I've had two KS Lev's - one with the handle under the nose of the saddle so no cable at all and one with the fixed external cable (that I still have on my Shan) both have been faultless

The giant posts are internal or external. Not sure if they do one in 27.2 though

From what i found 27.2 i can get. External route i can just about get. Shortish travel possibly but put it all together and you dont have much.

That Level post is cheap! And i do have a V1 gravity dropper from yonks ago. Too long to fit as the collar/mechanism is massive. It did put me off under seat lever faffing though.

Went with PNW pine. On offer at mtbriders so not a huge amount more than brand-x. And its only slighyly too long so will just live with not going to full extension on the rebound. Or buy a seat with shallower rail/saddle than current.

A lower stack saddle can def help. I've looked into that before and couldn't find anything thinner than a Charge Knife, which are super thin
