Considering a dropper to make my old inbred a little more rad. Seen a few on eBay eg
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DROPPER-SEAT-POST-Remote-Suspension-Seatpost-MTB-31-6mm-30-9mm-27-2-125mm-drop-/254141352329?nav=SEARCH

100 mm drop. Anyone tried them? Is 27.2 mm droppers just too noodly to bother with?

Any other recommendations? I don't want to spend over a £100 on a old cheap bike but I fancy the dropper to save the stop start of fiddling with the seat clamp even though it's my cc machine.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

I'd buy the brand x 85-105 dropper. £120 online, you might get a discount code or a cash back sight to get it cheaper.

There is also a 2nd hand gravity dropper. They are so simple they just keep going. They hold their price though

I looked at that very eBay model for my old 26er Soul for a while.

Ultimately I didn't buy it because I couldn't find any reviews, and asking here didn't get much response.

Having had a Brand X on another bike for about a year now, I would happily spend the extra 20 notes or so to get the Brand X unit.

Ok sold on the bend X will just save a few more pennies.

Did you find the 27.2 extra flexy or ok?

I had a 27.2 RSP Plummet (the old mechanical version not the current one) and it wasn’t noticeably flexible. The operation was a little clunky though. I’d expect the brand x one to be good.

If you're asking me, I'm afraid I can't comment since my BX is a bit larger, 30.9 I think. What I meant was I'd happily buy the 27.2 on the basis that the 30.9 has been very good, if that makes any sense 🙂

I used to run the old 200mm rase 27.2 dropper on my hardtail. A bit of flex but it was fine, I imagine a 125mm dropper will be grand

Not so stealth ad....I've got a Gravity Dropper Turbo I was thinking of selling.
27.2, 100mm drop. Recently replaced guides and seals.

I had some Redneck pedals once they were by far the lowest quality bike component I ever bought. That dropper looks like two bits of gas pipe stuck together. Buy a Brand X.

There’s a 27.2 Gravity dropper turbo (the lighter one) for sale in the classifieds. Fairly agricultural but you don’t get the soggy problem that you do in reverbs and the mechanism is very easy to service so good for a bike that might see some mucky miles.

What about the TranzX here: https://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/SPBAASPM/tranzx-dropper-seatpost-v2-(seatpost-cable-port)

I'm contemplating it for one of my bikes with a 27.2 post. Only 105mm travel though.

Have been running a 27.2 Brand X for a couple of weeks now and I'm very, very impressed with it so far.
Smooth action, good return rate, never sticks.
Was £99 in CRC 'sale', minus another tenner for signing up as a new customer. Its worth £90 new all day long (especially seeing used one sell for £80+ on ePay!)

Teamed it up with one of the ZTTO £15 sealed bearing dropper levers, which is another bonkers bargain, and now feel like the proverbial cream laden cat.

In fact, I used to run a 31.6 Brand X (stealth) on another bike and didn't like it as much as the 27.2. Much prefer the response rate on this one, but that's possibly just luck of the draw.

Oh yeah, external droppers FTW for me from now on. Internal routing can do one! So much easier to set up and swap an external actuated post.
