You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi, sorry if this is an age-old question but all my searches just come up with posts from yonks ago ( when 27.2 wasnt such a strange concept for manufacturers!)
As of Feb 2018 does anyone know of a 27.2mm dropper with 125mm or more travel ?
Most i can find is a 100mm KS Eten on ebay (£55 plus £10 postage) This may do the job but just wanted to check before I make the payday purchase.
Where to buy would also be handy.
One last thing, i cant really afford a £300 Thompson elite dropper.

I'm in the same boat, I have a horribly obsolete bike that I'd like to put a 27.2 dia dropper on!
Cube are bringing on out, its on their reaction TM hardtail but i think it's only 100m & stealth
Oh yeah i bike (2011 Orange Five) won't take a stealth dropper so external cabling only.
Dont want much do i ?

Had the same quandary for my singlespeed. I nearly went for a Thomson, but in the end settled with the 105mm tavel of the Brand-X for £85 before Christmas. Works great so far and the internal routing (it comes out of one of the seat tube bottle bosses) is a bonus over the Thomson.
The Thomson is available well below the £300 mark.
Check Winstanley's....
(I wouldn't have paid full price either but they are very nice... though if you buy a nice remote it might end up being £300)
Thanks for replies checked out winstanleys and no sign of an external cabled 27.2 125mm drop cor under £319. That gravity dropper link is $325 so also waaay above my price range.
Thinking punt on the KS Eten
The Redneck dropper meets your criteria but it is crude and I snapped the seat head on mine. If you’re light and prepared to replace the remote it’ll be ‘ok’.
if your frame has spare bottle mounts on the seat tube then the cable of a stealth dropper can usually be threaded through without drilling.
I have two of the ks cartridge type and they both sag. I keep going back to my old HiLo, it needs fettling regularly but takes 10 mins and no stupid unserviceable cartridge.
KS are now doing 120mm 27.2 options at various price points (LEV, LEVsi, E30, E20 and E-TEN).
Have a look at Jungle Products and the KS droppers. I’ve got one, supplied several and serviced them, user serviceable too. Reliable and good customer support.
Thanks again, no bottle mounts on my bike (im not drilling it !) so needs to be external. Just looked at all the models on Jungle and sods all all the 120mm ones i can see have internal cabling ! (Have emailed a local dealer to confirm)
So close!! some reasonable prices too, i liked the the look of the E30i.
Still considering the Redneck too.
LEV 272 with external routing has a new 27.2 option. As does the Carbon version if you’re feeling flush.
Ive been looking for one of these for my hybrid fitted with a baby seat for a while now
For under £150 there is pretty much nothing apart from the KS Eten in 27.2mm external routing
Ordered mine this week from amazon for £88
Had an Eten before on my old fat bike and had no issues, good post at that price
The £350 KS post are too rich for my blood these days, if i was spending that I'd go for the Thompson elite......but im not (I have kids!!)
Thats a good deal on amazon, Anyone got a 100mm drop post ? Will I be disappointed ?
I got a KS Eten the other week, works fine but the supplied lever is a bit gash and sits above rather than below the bar, looking into other options including rejigging an old front shifter.
Hi Catfood is 100mm enough to get seat out of the way though ? Im 5'11 and mostly ride local trails and trail centres.
It seems to be for me but I'm a dropper virgin so it's a bit of a revelation, some swear by 150mm+ but I reckon it's ok, then again I'm 5`8 and short in the leg so my post sits quite low as it is. I think with 27.2 we're stuck with 100mm, I think I paid £94 a few weeks back if you can get it for £65 all in I'd go for it, seems like a solid well made post too.
KS Eten with remote purchased from Amazon so hopefully if I dont feel the drop is enough i can return it !!
Whilst 150mm travel is nice to have, 100mm is fine for most stuff. (6’1 in the mornings).
only times I’ve dropped it more on the qr was riding a ski slope, proper steep sloppy mud and jumping. But then I like to drop the 150mm more in those circumstances too.
