MAte has a pair of small lads, 9 years and they're on 26s. They're getting plenty of punctures so he wants something that's a bit more resistant.
Recommendations please.
come on fellas.
Depends on the punctures, I reckon. Not a lot will protect against thorns etc.
I use Specialized 2Bliss tyres but they still tend to puncture if you ride past a bramble bush that's been recently flailed.
How about some Slime tubes instead, or some of those tyre liners that go between the tyre & tube to stop stabby things getting through?
No chance of setting them up tubeless?
Yeah i went with the suggestion of slime tubes this morning.
Tubeless, i'm not really sure he fancies going down the road of tubeless as he's never been there or done that and isn't really a MTBer.
Specialized do an armadillo casing which is good as you will get in 26 inch size
Cheers
Either the slime tubes or those armadillo tyres look like the best solutions. I think going tubeless is it such a great idea unless they really know what they’re doing.
Schwalbe Smart Sam Plus should be pretty puncture resistant. Though quite heavy.
As above Schwalbe do some good puncture resistant tyres in 26” (I fit to police bikes) as do Maxxis (I fit to my own for more off road, more expensive),the trouble with slime is that if you do get a puncture that it doesn’t fix you end up in a right old mess! If pm is working then feel free!
