A mate is looking for a bike for his daughter. Needs to be:
1) 26” wheeled with a small frame
2) New
3) Under £300
4) Pink
5) In stock
6) Not crap

Help me STW, you’re my only hope.

Go!

Reckon that's where you're gonna struggle...

There's a Carrera at £325 that looks ok if slightly over budget. Not pink though. ☹️

Not really. The bike is for an 11 year old girl. We tend to look at things through the eyes of someone with 5 bikes in the shed and a full susser that costs a few grand.

It just has to be reasonable. Not some £80 gas pipe bouncer that weighs more than a photo copier and has plastic brake levers.

That would be tough even without covid and it's effect of bike supply.

You already limited it hugely by 26" and new....

This could become an interesting game where people offer which 3 criterion make it hardest.
1. 26"
2. New
6. Not crap

Isn't 26" only used on the most basic of new bikes now?

My 11y old is on a 27.5 bike, small frame (giant I think). That might open up the range of frames available?

26 inch pink £300

No idea if these are any good but I like the fact there's no faux suspension or nasty disc brakes sucking up the budget in the name of fashion.

Jack flash in raw £100
Powder coat in pink £100, maybe sprayed cheaper?

Leaves £125 for new wheels, for finishing kit new drivechain etc.

£10 brandX headset, wake bars and stem £10 ... BB + cranks £50... clarks disk brakes £30 microshift mech and shifter ... chain.... and if you can find wheels you might be almost there.

I've got a tiny Sunn Vertik sat doing nothing. My 11 year old was using it for a bit before he got a Kona Shred for his birthday.

£100 just to get it out my way:
- NOS Sunn Vertik. Barely a mark on it. Red (nearly pink)
- Kona Project 2s (powdercoated black)
- Deore/Sun wheelset with Conti Racekings
- Deore V-Brakes
- Truvativ crank running a 1x8 setup with Deore shifters and mech
etc etc

Also have some Marzocchi Marathon SLs I could throw into the deal for £40 extra although they're disc only so you'd need a disc brake and a disc compatible front wheel.
