Just a quick question for 26" wheel bike owners. I have an opportunity to put a 180mm xt double crank on my bike and wondered which rings normally were used on 26" bikes - 28/40 or 26-38?

Cheers all

My 26er until earlier this week had a standard Deore triple - 22/32/fortysomething (replaced with a bash ring).

depends where you ride and how good your knees are.

Personal choice, depending on hills and legs.

I've got 26-38 and I'd rather have 28-40.

Maths might suggest bigger rings with longer crank arms.

Yes I know - I was just curious to know what the most common oem spec was for 26-ers

Most commonly specced was :
175 crank arms
22/32/44 triple chain rings
11/32 or 24 or 36 cassette

Watch your knees and pedal strikes with a 180mm crank....

I am 6'4" with 36" inside leg so I have heard that slightly longer cranks is beneficial ..
Thought I'd give it a go and see if it helped

I have an 11-36 cassette btw, wwaswas

If anyone is interested, I was looking at this website, which seems to go against what Sheldon Brown wrote (Sacrilege!!) in that it does suggest taller riders should have longer cranks..

If it's a Mk1 Soul, a double won't fit. 👿

1x11 works fine though.
