I want to put my 26" wheel mountain bike onto a turbo trainer for online spin classes. I have tried it out with the nobbly tyres but the noise is horendous. So where can I find a suitable slick tyre without spending ana arm and a leg. Any advice please?
Something like this will be a lot quieter:

OK so I bought a 26" tyre but it's miles too big in diameter to fit on my 26" mountain bike wheel.
The outer diameter of the tyre is 26 but the tyre is shallower so the inner diameter is much larger than a MTB tyre and rim. So I have learned that 26" wheels are actually much smaller than 26". the 26 includes the tyre.
How do I go about getting the right sized tyre anybody??
Although they are not literally 26" in diameter 26" tyres fit 26" wheels. It isn't like 20" rims where there are more than one type of bead circumference under the same mantra. Are you sure they didn't just accidentally sent you the 700C version of the tyre?

I've got one of those, it's been bastard tight on every rim I've ever tried it on, currently sat on an old mavic 26" wheel with a flat tube in it (Knicked it when fitting the sodding Trainer tyre funnily enough)…
Anyway if I can persuade it off the wheel you can have it OP - PM me if you want it...
Schwalbe make some specific tyres for turbo trainers. Pretty sure I saw one recently for about 22 quid. Might have been Fawkes cycles.
The packaging and the tyre are marked as 26" but the inner diameter is over 1" bigger than the outside of the rim. Maybe I shouldn't have gone for the cheapest available option.
I will take the wheel to a bike shop and see if they can sort me out without making me feel even more of an idiot. No way am I spending more bucks online.
There's about 5 different 26" tyres.
What was the ISO measurement on the side of the tyre? I'm guessing it wasn't 559 then.
Turn the nobbly tire inside out?!?!?!
I might actually try that, what's the worst that can happen.....
Oh I see now that the ETRTO of those cheap 26" tyres on wiggle is 590 so too large for a new fangled 26" MTB rim.
I didn't realise 26" was an ambiguous tyre size and it doesn't highlight in the listing that those tyres are for vintage bikes so I guess this could catch out quite a few people.
New fangled. Lke it!
